Alonso's car being worked on. It was dragging the ground and throwing sparks like crazy.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

As for Alonso... Underestimate how hard Indycar actually is and how tricky and difficult Indianapolis is and be prepared to be smacked back to reality by missing the show.

So if there's no more running today with the rain, Alonso makes it in by virtue of his time yesterday, right?

I think the decision not to do a full season (and so be more familiar with the car and have more oval setup experience, etc) has really hurt them here.

That's what I thought but then they mentioned running Monday yesterday.

Yes.

Edit: No, not immediately. They will try and run the Fast 9 today and the bumping tomorrow, apparently.

Nope, the Slow Six shootout will take place tomorrow (weather will be fine).

It will put Pigot on pole.

Ah right, gotcha. I suspect he'll scrape his way in. The narrative needs it

They were saying yesterday that if they can't get the Bump session in today they will run it tomorrow.

The fast 9 shootout will be scrapped if they can't run it today though.

They said about trying to run the the slow six shootout as far as wednesday. So it should really happen. Unless it rains non-stop. Don't know about the fast nine. Today might be it. It ain't THAT important and there is all the media attention for the pole position and so many people involved that would be put on hold. That should be why.

Corrected that for you. Anyway, if McLaren wants to try to go back at Indy full-time, this was a great test lab. And a lot of media.

From what Hinch has said, he's now got the car where he wants it, so I can't see him having much trouble.

Karam just needs confidence as the car is plainly quick enough (on that note, would it be allowed for Hildebrand to qualify the #24 as well, if the team wanted to?).

Which leaves 4 into 1.

Remind me again why they went with Carlin for a partnership?

No other Chevy team was interested and Honda have had enough of McLaren\Alonso.

Probably because no-one in the IndyCar paddock wants to touch either Alonso or McLaren with a ten foot barge pole because of their prior treatment of Honda??

McLaren really underestimated Indianapolis.

At the very least, they should've entered Pocono last year, to get some data and experience in this chassis/aero/engine combo.

Also, if I was IndyCar, I'd have just mandate road course wings and rain tyres, for this last row shootout.

"Hinchcliffe qualifies with a speed of 115.323 mph"
