LOL there are no guards, will be interesting how well the drivers adjust after 5 years of being able to use them as bumpers.

Thanks  That was pretty much my point.

What's with the Cosworth lettering on the steering wheel?

Cosworth supplies some of the electronic components, including the new LCD panel steering wheel

a new team called Thom Burns Racing has started a Twitter account, and apparently will be entering the Indy 500 this year.

Hope for Phoenix passing rises at IndyCar test. (RACER.com)
Fontana and Las Vegas tracks still open to IndyCar comeback. (Autoweek.com)

-

Fontana / triple crown of 500 mile races would be nice to have on the schedule again. Rather not see Vegas on the schedule again though.

Judging by the fact that Conor Daly is following them, I'm thinking he's the driver.

Very close to 33 already. 28 already signed up (22 full-time cars, plus Helio, Wilson, Munoz, Harvey, Lazier and Kaiser), plus Pippa who is almost guaranteed in a third DCR car, plus Danica who got her deal sorted out on Monday, and then you've got the teams that usually run an extra car (or just a car) like Rahal for Servia, Carpenter, Dreyer & Reinbold etc. (DCR also want a fourth car, presumably for ZCDM), then there's this group.

Very odd (but in a nice way) to only be in February and already have a full field for Indy.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Will Alonso give it a go again this year? Should be super challenging given the schedule

I think Alonso should have already withdrawn F1 this year. He should have gone to IndyCar...I believe that If McLaren presents another shitty car, he may try to get out by the mid of the Season, that's my bet.

As if by magic, Miller & Pruett do a much better job of this than me.

http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/14743 ... 33-entries

The main takeaways are;

-Dreyer & Reinbold are looking to run two cars, one for Karam and an extra one for JR Hildebrand.

-The Thom Burns tweets above seem to relate to a partnership with Coyne, which will put Daly in their fourth car.

-Servia at RLL is a lock.

-A third Schmidt car (not the Shank tie-up) is still on the cards.

-Neither Juncos nor Foyt will run an extra car this year, and Lazier does not yet have a whole 2018-spec car, but is working towards it.

-Ganassi and Penske will stay at their numbers as well.

-Harding is still open to running a second car.

-The current tally is 34, including Lazier.

Please no, this would be a really stupid idea, there are much more appropriate tracks and markets Indycar should be focusing on instead

Quote:
It may sound like a far-fetched fairy-tale at first glance, but rumour that the Verizon IndyCar Series could travel to New Zealand could become a reality.

There has been talk since last year that Pukekohe Park is trying to bolster its calendar with the signing of a new major international event. Now the rumour has taken on a new wind after Scott Dixon confirmed he’s aware of it in an interview with velocitynews.co.nz.

“I heard similar rumblings. To get something to work it would be financially a lot more feasible if you could split it between two countries, and especially if they could do an Australian and New Zealand round,” he said.

While Pukehoke might not be the most suitable track for IndyCar in NZ. A doubleheader in Australia & New Zealand is what IndyCar has been exactly looking for in terms of international races, especially because they can run it before the traditional North American season opener in St. Pete in January or February.
