So, Juan will do the Michigan race in June and the Brickyard in the #12 Penske Cup car. Yet another car/brand to the list of race cars that guy drove. :p

And in 2016.. Johnathan Byrd Racing is coming back to Indy! Nice to see the same livery that holds the IMS all time record that is rumored to be on the target to be beaten for the 100th race!

IndyCar confirmed to hold a race at NOLA Motorsports Park next year, a small, club-racing track located near New Orleans.

IndyCar commits to New Orleans race in 2015

I think Randy wanted to have a race there in 2012 but NOLA needed to make some improvement to the project so that open wheel cars could race there.

Forgive me if I've missed something here, but doesn't that seem a little... cheap, for America's 'premier' open-wheel series?

Don't know anything about this track. Are there elevation changes or is it one of these new, glorified parking lot tracks?

It was designed by the guy who designed Barber. That's all I know about it.

Looks like a flat, giant go-kart track

The track is club circuit built on swamp that's never hosted major racing event. It makes Mid-Ohio, Barber, Sonoma, etc. look like COTA.

Thruxton and Snetterton are virtually flat, your point is?

It's got this strange stuff they call grass at the edge of the track, so it's a welcome addition imho, even if it is flat.

If that's the circuit layout they're using then that's not very good. Grass yes, good for racing no. They've got a bigger layout according to this track map...

If they use a combined north and south layout then it should provide some decent racing. Otherwise it's too twisty and offers no real overtaking opportunities. New Orleans is great at organizing parades, but leave those to the streets not the race circuit.

From what I read, they'd actually have to build the south layout first before using it for the Indycars.

I live 10 miles from the track. The track will invest money in improvements, and temp grandstands can be erected in no time since they do it for Mardi Gras every year.

Of course, I'm waiting for the track and/or IndyCar to confirm it because I'm a skeptic. But if they confirm it, I'm looking forward to this event. The track did host the final event in 2012 of the AMA Superbike series, so they can do bigger events, but I'm near certain that they'll invest some significant coin into upgrading the track.

Must be the trees, but it looks like something is missing lol

:Edit// Looks like I'm right. There is no South layout at the moment, unless Google has an old satellite picture.

I wish they'd just go to Cleveland and Road America.
