Indycar needs to milk that final crash for all it can do to promote the series

Rivalries bring ratings

INDYCAR is BACK folks :)

I like Bourdais but that was such a bonehead move from Rossi

I hate that it has become accepted to do this shit at the end of races. Cheever and Goodyear are celebrating it.

This is nothing like the end of the Daytona 500, that was just 2 guys racing hard for the win on worn tyres, not a deliberate take out

Rossi's a dick but he's a dick for making a mistake and taking out the dominant car, not deliberately knocking him off because he had no other way to win

I don't like the way this ended, and absolutely gutted for Wickens, he was masterclass this weekend as a rookie. But I do believe some of you are being harsh on Rossi, as he just made a mistake, lost it on the paint on the braking zone, it's not like he Nascared Wickens off the track on the final lap.

In the end yeah, fucking Seb!!

At the end of the day, Chilton ruined Wickens' race, lol

Yeah as much as it sucks to see a good race finish like that, I think that was a racing incident. Let's blame it all on Max Chilton.

Not happy about the finish, but I wouldn't penalise for it either

That's racing sometimes, lets not get F1 and penalise any time someone sneezes when following another car...

That should have drawn a penalty. I get Rossi had to try it, but he couldn't stop it, clearly lost control and swatted Wickens out of the way. Seems like that's the definition of avoidable contact.

Glad for Bourdais but that was such a disappointing finish.

Huh? Dixon lost it on the very same paint and got penalised?

Drama! This is not what you want to see, but at the same time it is exactly what you want to see. I mean, did you really believed it would go down this way? So many levels of things that happened on the last three laps. Wickens has given us a storm warning. Bourdais is back. This will be a season to watch! Epic start for an epic season!

I think no penalty is the right call TBH.

Rossi didn't run into him intentionally, That was perhaps his last shot at the win & he saw an opportunity braked super late & the back end got away from him.

Difference is that Dixon wasn't trying to pass Sato when he hit him, He just braked far too late & drove into the back of Sato from quite a way back.

More disappointed in Hinch tbh. Had a great opportunity to give Rossi a receipt into turn 4 and bottled it.

I am so happy I have a series In US I can feel passionate about again. "Ok might be a bit early  " but man this brought me back to good ol'times.

Plenty of sliding and plenty of racing and anything can and will happen when the cars are this tail happy and still fast and loud enough.

Never been a Bourdais fan but with this comeback after Indy, I am happy for him. Wickens is for sure a future star, and I feel for him, but his time will come.

Bring it on Indycar 2018!!

I'd say if Wickens had not wrecked, OK, no harm no foul. But you can't bomb it in there and take out the leader and pay no price for it. This isn't NASCAR damnit. You gotta let them race, but you can't swat the leader out of the way with your mistake.

Then every collision is an avoidable contact by your standards. All drivers should never take the decision to go alongside unless they're waved past by the driver ahead. Making the decision to make a move, is always avoidable.

I thought you were a racer yourself ? I mean, the move was reasonable, was executed in a fairly safe manner, but he ran slightly out of grip. Didn't bodge it by a mile. This is a textbook example of a racing incident, otherwise therr would never be any spice or risk in racing.
