Oh great, yes Imola, a circuit with zero overtaking opportunities. Good idea.

They can pass at Mid Ohio and Barber. They'll be able to pass at Imola.

They can also pass at other circuits but that doesn't guarantee the same will happen at Imola. There are far better circuits in Europe if Indycar wants to stray across the waters.

Rockingham, Donnington, Oulton, hell even Cadwell Park would be better than Imola.

Could save money and have about 5 races on the different configurations at Rockingham alone.

Indeed, I know you're taking the piss, but Mallory is very much like Milwaukee, just a bit narrower, they'd do just fine there imho.

Nothing would be better than Imola or Mugello, if we are being utopic.

Imola before they fucked it up would've been pretty good.

Indycar has no business racing in Europe at the moment.

Really? Imola has no overtaking opportunities but Donington and Oulton do?

You guys are just trolling now.

Why should they race at Imola there was a big argument earlier about the way that wall is placed in the last corner its totally unsafe for any form of open wheelers

The things they'd have to do to that track to make it even halfway safe for cars of that speed...no.

As much as I would love Indycars at Thruxton (I would probably go to the race), there's no chance.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

  Thank God none of you lot work at the FIA.

They raced F1 at Thruxton right up into the 1980's, and iirc F3000 up to the 1990 without anybody getting killed, Thruxton is one of the more safe tracks to have an accident at since it takes you all day to find anything to hit out the back, unless you're name is Hamilton then of course you hit the only immovable object for 2 miles without even trying.

It's not my standards, it's their standards.

If not even Portimao is safe for F1, what chance does Thruxton have as it is?

You've just said it. Portimão would be a fine choice for a track.

Can i dream of it coming to Porto? :p

No offence to you Ian but wasn't there a Clio fatality there a few years ago? And clios are going about half the speed of an Indycar, if that.

There's only miles before you hit anything because nothing the speed of Indycar ever goes off there. If Indycar was there I imagine they'd be off in the gully that Menu ended up in and up the bank Buxton rolled up (and down!) a lot more just because they have more speed to scrub off.

Thruxton is probably my favorite track in the UK, but I don't want it changed.

Not a Clio but a GT Cup driver. There's been a couple of other fatalities, like Marcel Albers and the spectator killed due to accident involving Bruce Jouanney. But we're getting way off topic. Although I love the fantasy of something like Indycar racing at Thruxton. A man can dream right?

Imola I don't think is suitable, it is too tight, too many chicanes and no decent straight parts to encourage overtaking. Mugello would be interesting as that is more like Barber, with long fast corners and a decently long straight to encourage slipstreaming and overtaking. If Indycar wants to go to Europe, and especially Italy, then Monza it has to be. It won't happen though.

There was a Clio fatality but that was down to a heart attack.

^ Bingo - I never said there wasn't fatalities there, I said F1 and F3000 raced there without fatalities, and the fatalities that did, could happen anywhere, heck isn't it 2 people now that have been killed at super new super safe Abu Dhabi?

My point being, you don't need to change or improve the tracks, if anything sanitising them for the sake of safety only makes drives take more risks. Champcar were perfectly happy to race at Brands, I was there and they were going crazy speeds into Paddock, so to pull the safety card to stop them racing at another track is a bit lame imho.
