Well, it also could be bullshit from Mr. JPM, as the rich can sometimes be asshats about wanting to keep their money out of government paws. (Which, to be fair, is easy to see why, because no one likes paying taxes. But the great lengths some rich people go to not pay tax these days have made some headlines...)

Tax law gets ridiculously complex when it comes to scenarios like this, so it's hard to know what's really going on.

Wow, I didn't see that coming. What a shame. I hope he's able to still be involved in racing in one form or another at least.

Dam, didn't expect that it would end his career :(

Quote:
One month removed from the crash and based upon the expert advice of the doctors who have treated and assessed my head and spinal injuries post accident, it is their best medical opinion that I must stop racing. They have made it very clear that the risks involved in further racing are too great and could be detrimental to my long term well-being. Based on this medical advice, I have no choice but to stop.

Ah, balls.

I suppose it also cancels any opportunity for him to do sportscars with Marino.

On the other hand, it is one more option open for those scrabbling for F1 midfield seats next year.

Dr. Olvey suggests that it was post-concussion syndrome that did for him.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I KNEW this was going to happen...after the accident at Houston, given the violence involved on that crash, I thought "Dario is definetly retiring after that....", so....yeah, it was predictable I know, but not many people believed it.

He's right, so many titles and wins...why you need to keep risking your life at the age of 40? If not retiring, he can at least try something else, any touring series I don't know. But I knew this was Franchitti's retirement.

Sorry to see this news. He had a great career and represented the sport very well. I wish him well in whatever he choses to do in the future.

He will just go into the media as a commentator I reckon.
