And yet less than two months later he was racing again. Pretty incredible.

A fantastic place to race it was.

Shame to see that that once racing-fertile corner of the northern colony has birthed places like Edmonton afterwards ...

We still ahve Toronto at least!

Greg came from Vancouver :D

I've been watching this race recently, the margins between the cars is insane. Lapped in 8 laps :8:

The interview with Andretti at 27 minutes is the saddest interview I've ever seen!

Anyway, I've just watched the two races from Michigan 1984. A tremendous amount of bad accidents that year. But no further discussion on whether Indycars had "outgrown" superspeedways like Michigan back then, like it's been the last decade? Seemed like Michigan was cursed that year. Phil Kruger, Chip Ganassi, Derek Daly and Gordon Johncock all suffered serious injuries there within a year.

There was plenty of discussions about cars going too fast at Michigan in the 1980s, and they even built a chicane in 1987 to try and reduce speeds. You can Google news articles like this that mention these concerns.

What there wasn't quite as much of back then is the over-emotional over-reacting that you get now in some of today's clickbait reporting. :p

Ah yes, I remember hearing about that chicane. What a bright idea that was!

Here's something on Daly's accident. Remarkable that he even survived that. Did not know that he hit the wall with such speed.

When the leaders go five-wide the moment the race starts, you know you're in for a classic.

Yup crazy, the speed between the Penske boys and the other cars is just out of nowhere...

And they still managed to lost the race.

You wouldn't get people 2 seconds off the pace on a 20 second lap nowadays.

Well, probably Duno.
