I blame Barnhart In all seriousness though its worrying how easily it took off pretty much as soon as it got backwards. I just really hope this is a freak 1 off & not something were going to see as frequently as we did with the old car. |

I thought it was a pretty sweet wreck. Helio is fine. Bring back the speed and drama and danger to racing. Now I'm excited for the race even more! |

That thing did it's best NASCAR blowover emulation. Seen a lot of Indycars take off, never like that though. Definitely not good. |

Dang, RHR and one of the Coyne cars ran side-by-side through T3 a few moments ago. |

Looking at timing and scoring, Helio only had one lap at speed before his accident. I wonder if something was amiss on the setup or something. |

Wasn't someone suggesting earlier that Helio was testing new sidepods? If it was his second lap at speed then maybe tyre pressures weren't fully up? Just speculation of course. |

Normally I'd go along with the jokes about rexx and fatalz, but after Wheldon I don't want to see anything like that any more. I hope this is just a freak accident, but Indycar needs to look into this. |

Just speculation of course. he and 1 other Penske car (Pagenaud or Montoya I think) were testing a different sidepod/wheel ramp configuration. |

i might be crazy but after watching clauson's car there for a bit it looked like the (drivers) left side side pod and rear pod weren't as tall of a profile as the right side ones. was it just an optical illusion or is that an option they even have with the oval aero kits? |

Power & Pagenaud on track right now with the standard sidepod, anyone got a feeling that the addon pieces are possibly for qualifying? Helio ran his fastest lap without a tow with those pieces yesterday also Pippa is P8 right now |

Helio ran his fastest lap without a tow with those pieces yesterday That's what I was thinking too. I imagine the more Honda-like sidepod pieces Helio was running are low drag but low downforce, while the other pieces are higher drag but higher downforce, so teams may be willing to sacrifice a little speed in a straight line for more grip in traffic come race day. |

Here is a screengrab showing when it started to lift: It seemed to kinda stall like that until it hit the wall which is when it started to really take off: |

If that left sidepod had crushed when he hit the wall it would have removed half the under car surface area and it wouldn't have taken off. |

Bourdais or Munoz just scraped the wall coming out of turn 4. still green flag conditions though |

That's about as close as you'll get to the wall without hitting it. |

Not sure if this is a 2nd different sidepod/wheel ramp addon piece for the Chevrolet's or if it's the same piece just disconnected/missing a piece [tweet]https://twitter.com/Chad200/status/598499276101038080[/tweet] |

Pippa Mann hit the inside wall & end of the pit wall exiting turn 4. Pretty hard hit into the foam covering the end of the pit wall & the car started spinning quite violently to the outside wall after it hit that. Looks like Pippa's OK though. |
