Indy 500 one-off, please, Juan.

I'd like to see him try the full season for Ganassi. He's still got plenty left in the tank.

He'd be an amazing "older statesman of Indycar that you just don't cross" figure, like Tracy was in the later Champcar years.

But he'd probably see it as a step backwards and wouldn't do it, which is a shame :(

I think they would be great on that course, but I just don't think it's a good idea to split your own audience (or try to).

I don't think it's great to schedule an event at the illustrious and fabled Indianapolis Motor Speedway, then run on the frickin' roval.

I wonder how bad things are going for that track. Back in the day it was open for 1 month a year and that was it.
Now you have everything from NASCAR Nationwide to Grand-Am to MotoGP to now an Indycar road race scheduled there....
Kinda hurts the legend a bit if the Indy500 is just another race....

How do you expect to operate a race track based on one race a year? Saying Grand Am and MotoGP running there makes the 500 just another race means that the Daytona 500 is worthless, which just isn't true.

Running two IZOD IndyCar races in May at Indy is a terrible freaking idea.

If you want to run the road course, run it outside of May. I think having multiple series running the road course and saving the oval for just Indy and if they must...Sprint Cup is the best use for the facility. Personally id have the Sprint Cup cars run the road course also..

It's diluting of the brand and it's sad to see....

It's also taking up a valuable road course date. With so many great tracks (would list them all but you know what they are) sitting on the sidelines, seeing a freaking roval on the schedule (no matter how good the new track is, no Roval can compete with a purpose built road course..) is a crime.

BTW whatever happened to the final windtunnel that Robin Miller was supposed to present and reveal secrets of the Indycar world? :?

Running something additional to the Indy500 in May will devalue the entire month of may event, spirit and spectacle. Bad idea. But Indycar on the road course I would like to see. Come back in September or October. Leave May to be the exclusive 500 event that May in Indianapolis stands for.

They won't run it the same month as the 500, it will be later in the year. Just because they have double headers, doesn't mean they'd do it here.

You could back in "the old days" when the entire month was well attended. I mean, this was the frickin' *time trials* in 1988.

That's how you could survive on one event.
Unfortunately, yes, times change.

That's the kind of crowds you got when the Track Record was on the line in qualifying. Also, the total lack of TV coverage (at least live) back in the day also contributed to the large attendance.

On the bright side, Pocono is going to be 500 miles next year with the possibility of Fontana moving to June so all three 500 milers in the Tripple Crown are run in successive months. Got that from Racer (online) but am too lazy to link it right now.

Wut Wut, I have to start liking the Andretti's?

Would be cool if he start's dominating the Ganassi's.
