Well considering IndyCar does everything they can to avoid that kind of stupidity now.

I think they definitely want to avoid a Vegas but I'm sure people aren't unopposed to running Fontana and MIS if the finances make sense, and if the racing can be exciting without being suicidal.

Currently, however, MIS feels that the music festival business is a better deal than open wheel. :o

I guess on the bright side we can be thankful Indycar is at least treading water. NASCAR and F1 appear to be plummeting from their admittedly much loftier peaks. MIS has slashed about 45% of their 2000s-NASCAR-era grandstands (143,000 to 78,000 seats) so at least a future Indycar race at MIS won't look so empty. :p

Seems Aleshin is in doubt for this season. That would really suck.

Fontana is very much an attendance issue though.

When you expect people to stay half day under the Californian mid-day sun in the mid-summer heat, it's not really an attendance issue. Also moving the race back and forth in the calendar kills the routine for people to attend there. Make it a season finale night race with fireworks and shit and I'll bet they can get more spectators than overtaking for the race.

As much we like/hate Maldonator, I really hope he's doing only the road and street races because...

He's so aggressive and unpredictable for ovals that he'll be a serious threat for everyone in a mile area from the track.

Quote:
Formula 1 race-winner Pastor Maldonado

This is accurate. it's not the way anyone would refer to him, but you can say nothing about the truthfulness of the sentence.
