Explanation of what happened:

"It was not a puncture but the rear tire actually came off the rim. The clearance between the rear right toe control rod and the rim was quite less. While rolling the wheel with the car jacked up, the wheel did not interfere with the toe control rod. However, when the car was driven, a compliance was induced as the tire experienced some flex due to medium rubber compound. This compliance made the rim touch the toe control rod. The rim got deformed and the tire came off.

On the front right wheel, there was a problem with the brake disk. Due to a manufacturing defect in the brake disk it sheared from it's center bolts. The broken part of the disk filed the inner part of the front right rim and thus, the whole wheel came off.

We were happy to see out suspension components were fine."

Love how the 'suspension components were fine' and apparently a medium tyre compound can do all that damage, nothing to do with the rear wheels pointing in different directions when it pulled away

This thing doesn't look any better in motion

I don't understand what they were thinking when designing this. The previous 2 models were beautiful, this looks like a crappy soapbox derby car designed by a 5 year-old and daddy made it exactly like the drawings.

Ah, I see that they had their next gen car designed by the Formula SAE student program. It's even more blatant on real shots.

Did they increase battery size for more autonomy/power? Perhaps this cumbersome cancerous lump of a bodywork is to accommodate them.

I really does look bad/amateurish compared to the cars they've been running so far

The new car is 60kgs lighter than the current one. There will be more power (from 250kW to 350kW), but the extra energy needed will come from better regeneration and pitstop charging rather than more batteries.

So the design is a deliberate choice rather than a compromise.

I can't remember a Formula E car that anyone called pretty when it was first announced. By now it's pretty clear that they want these things to stand out from the typical open wheel car.

Yeah, no buddy, Gen2 was liked. It looked badass, not wacky. I recall it being compared to a Batmobile from certain angles.

Yes, people eventually get used to ugly, but that's no reason to level down and consider this soapbox in the same category as the two previous race cars. This genuinely looks like a step down to a junior category visually, with the wheels looking smaller compared to chassis.

I don't think any side by side action can occur in that section whatsoever.
