The 2021-22 Formula E World Championship is the 8th season of the series, and the second world championship. It should also be the final season with the Gen2 cars, and as such, there will be no major changes to the technical regulations - a slight boost in race power the only noticeable difference. On the sporting side, there will be a significant revamp of qualifying, with the multi-group\Superpole format replaced by 2 groups of 11, with the fastest 4 in each group moving into a knockout competition to decide pole. Calendar (in pencil) Diriyah I - 28th January Diriyah II - 29th January Mexico City - 12th February Rome I - 9th April Rome II - 10th April Monaco - 30th April Berlin I - 14th May Berlin II - 15th May Jakarta - 4th June Marrakesh - 2nd July New York I - 16th July New York II - 17th July London I - 30th July London II - 31st July Seoul I - 13th August Seoul II - 14th August As was the case for season 7, despite the season spanning 2 calendar years, all of the races will take place in 2022. There are obviously no guarantees that the planned calendar is carried out in full, but the announced schedule has some changes from previous years. The most notable omission is Paris, whose organisers have deferred the race's return to the calendar until 2023, with a new layout to accomodate the faster Gen3 cars, but the Mexican race returns to the capital and the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The expected Chinese race has been cancelled, but Jakarta will debut after the original race in 2020 was cancelled. Returning to the calendar is Marrakesh as a late stand-in for Vancouver. The season will end with a double-header at another new venue in Seoul, assuming that the race is not cancelled for the third year running. Entrants Mercedes ¦ Nyck de Vries - Stoffel Vandoorne Jaguar TCS ¦ Sam Bird - Mitch Evans DS Techeetah ¦ Antonio Felix da Costa - Jean Eric Vergne Envision ¦ Robin Frijns - Nick Cassidy Avalanche Andretti ¦ Jake Dennis - Oliver Askew ROKiT Venturi ¦ Lucas di Grassi - Eduardo Mortara TAG Heuer Porsche ¦ Andre Lotterer - Pascal Wehrlein Mahindra ¦ Alexander Sims - Oliver Rowland Nissan e.dams ¦ Sebastien Buemi - Maximilian Gunther Dragon/Penske ¦ Sergio Sette Camara - Antonio Giovinazzi NIO 333 ¦ Oliver Turvey - Dan Ticktum This is one of the more febrile Silly Seasons in the series' history, with Audi disappearing and BMW reducing their commitment to become a supplier to a private Andretti entry, as well as the departure of Virgin as a sponsor. But new title sponsors have also appeared at Jaguar and Andretti, and Dragon Racing has rebranded to try and leverage the power of the owner's name. The movement of drivers is noticeable. Lucas di Grassi has been loaned to Venturi whilst the Abt team put together an attempt to return in 2023 - he replaces Norman Nato. Alex Lynn is replaced at Mahindra by Oliver Rowland, and he in turn is replaced at Nissan by Max Gunther, whose vacancy at Andretti has been filled by Oliver Askew. The conveyer belt of talent from F1 to FE continues with Antonio Giovinazzi joining Dragon alongside the incumbent Sette Camara. Blomqvist has decided to step away from the series and his seat at NIO has been taken by Dan Ticktum. Only 5 teams are bringing back the same drivers from the previous campaign; Envision, DS Techeetah, Jaguar, Mercedes and Porsche. |

Vancouver round cancelled. They say it's because incorrect permits were issued. Sounds odd to say the least. https://www.motorsport.com/formula-e/ne ... /10146570/ |
