I saw Alesi jumped the start. Not quite as good as this one though.

That was a disappointing race three. Although overall the three races were pretty decent, rough and tumble touring car racing.

A decent race day overall, the worst races being Porsche race 2, Ginetta GT & Formula Renault.

Andy Neate continues to be a menace to human life, he just turned left into Will Bratt to cause that crash. It's fitting that he's the only person that I've seen (other than poor Nick Foster) to go that far off since they reconfigured the run-off area. He is going to kill somebody. I did have a thought that he runs number 44 because that's how many boxes of corn flakes he had to sift through before he finally found one that contained a racing licence.

Ford had a terrible day in general. Numerous FFords made unscheduled stops, there was yet another Ginetta on fire in the Supercup race (they use Ford engines), and Onslow-Cole, Griffin & Mat Jackson kept having issues in the touring cars.

There was nearly a huge shunt in the first Junior race where a car went spinning across the inside of Brooklands and narrowly avoided two others by what looked like millimetres. There was plenty of slipstreaming going on, including an eight car battle for the lead at one point.

The first Porsche race was actually really enjoyable. There were quite a few battles for position throughout the field, to the point where Matt Feeney could have exploded with excitement! It also had a great finish for third place between Butcher & Lloyd. They were running side by side through Luffield, Butcher had a huge powerslide on the inside on exit and the drag raced to the line with Lloyd taking it by a bumper.

It amazes me how many many casuals (or as I call them, non-fans) go to these events. During the first BTCC race the stands were packed, you couldn't move for people. Five minutes afterwards they were 75% empty, even though there was another race on. Why do people spend £30 on a ticket just to watch three races? They should stay at home.

And another thing, why do people take babies to a racetrack? It's really not a suitable place for them and all they do is cry, the poor thing was probably terrified. It's a worse sound than an air horn (incidentally, anyone who takes one of those to an event should have it rammed up their arse). Also, I can't stand people who insist on providing a running commentary. There was this kid behind me, probably about 16, with his Dad and he pointed out every single pass, slide or crash. I could have turned around and punched him in the mouth, the irritating little sod.

It's interesting to see so much discussion about Tordoff passing under yellow, I had no idea that even happened  .

So it was Mat Jackson who caused Colin Turkington's retirement in race 3 - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/110243

Think its because children get in free.

BMWs have the same problem as the Seat Leons used to have, rear suspension is too fragile. The other cars in the field would have survived that contact and Collard has retired countless times with broken rear suspension.

Did we ever see what kind of contact it was?

Think its fair to assume that contact was either front quarter to rear quarter or side by side given the last shot was Jackson heading up turkington's inside into Copse. If this was v8 supercars we'd have the replay from Jackson's stewards onboard, sadly not but as they fined him probably was front quarter to rear quarter.

Ah, so they do fine drivers for sticking their nose into someone's rear corner? Unless you're Plato. Then it's a 'classic Touring Car move!'

I think they let things go unless the other car is taken out of the race completely, its not just Plato who gets away with the tap and pass. £500 fine and penalty points isn't that much of a punishment anyway.

The points and fine were probably more to do with the fact that Turkington retired from the race, rather than the actual contact itself.

Don't worry, we all feel like doing that at times.

Read all of the following in the "Flailing Tube Guy Advert" voice from Family Guy.

"OMG WE NEED TO MAKE TURN 1 AT SILVERSTONE SAFER!"

"TARMAC THE FUCKER!"

*lots of work involving various equipment and four acres of tarmac*

"HEY THIS IS SAFER!"

*a car loses a wheel and slides straight across the tarmac and into the wall at 160mph and explodes into 18 million pieces*

*a second car spins entering the corner in the rain and slides at unabated speed across the tarmac and into the wall and fifteen baby deer which were all staring with cute wide Disney eyes at him until they were obliterated in a cloud of fluffy tails and spleens*

"WOW THAT WORKS REALLY WELL AT SLOWING CARS DOWN!"

"I KNOW, WE'RE AWESOME!"

"HAY, I DID NOTICE THAT VIRTUALLY EVERY SINGLE DRIVER EVER NOW CHOOSES TO RUN WIDE THERE BECAUSE IT'S EASIER FOR THEM TO DO SO WHILST GOING AT A HIGHER SPEED WITHOUT HAVING A MONUMENTAL ACCIDENT. DID YOU NOTICE THAT?"

"YES I DID! WE SHOULD MAKE IT HARDER FOR THEM!"

"YES! LET'S PUT A CURB THERE AND A THREE FOOT WIDE STRIP OF FAKE GRASS WHICH HAS ABSOLUTELY NO IMPACT WHATSOEVER!"

"EXCELLENT IDEA!"

"HEY LOOK, NOW THEY HAVE TO DRIVE OVER A CURB AND A THREE FOOD WIDE STRIP OF FAKE GRASS! HAHAH. HA!?"

"YES, WE DID IT!"

*high fives all around, followed by various gunshots and sounds of celebrations from people in the gravel-trap-construction-industry*

No, I honestly, totally, really don't have any problems with tarmac run-offs at all. Nup.

So yeah, Matt's had his hand operation and will be deciding on Monday if he can race at Brands.
