Good to see James back in the series.

Thats a great surprise and means we are starting to push grid numbers back up.

Agreed, hopefully if Daniel Lloyd can get into the Triple 8 Vectra at Donington as he was hoping, we could have a field of 23 cars for the return to the Park.

The only slight concern though is that PON is struggling for finance so he might not be able to make it for the last two rounds.

That would be tragic - he got loads of support at the 'hill and it was magic to see him dancing around and pumping his fists when he finished 4th in the last race. He's done amazing things with that car - you don't realise how tatty looking and old they really are until you see them up close in the paddock beside the Civics and so on.

Yeah, I mean that car has been around since what, 2005 without any upgrades? Pretty awesome.

It's crazy rumor BTCC time! God I love these and this ones a real cracker. The next driver who is apparently looking for a BTCC drive in 2011 is none other than Dan Wheldon, yes I'll repeat that. Dan Wheldon. Going to be honest, don't think this will happen.

And Thomson wants a crack at the title in one of the new cars going by TCT.

If that's true about Thommo, it can only be good news. Would give Plato something he can genuinely moan about

Wheldon, meh. I think he'd be shit

Well if Wheldon leaves Panther I think he'd more likely try NASCAR if he doesn't get another Indycar seat. I just can't see him moving back here to do BTCC any time soon.

From March 2010:

thesun.co.uk wrote:
Wheldon eyes BTCC switch

Dan Wheldon may be heading for the British Touring Car Championship - but not just yet.

The Florida-based Brit's Canadian wife Susie has a hankering to live in Europe. And a move back home could lead to Wheldon competing in Britain's premier series.

The 31-year-old driver, whose son Sebastian has just turned one, said: "I love Indycars and very much enjoy driving them. But my wife wants to live in Europe and I have always loved watching all the touring car championships on TV. They are really good and exciting. So that's something I'd love to do."

Wheldon doesn't actually mention the BTCC in that article. It's just The Sun making an assumption.

Unfortunately someone at Wheldon's level would probably opt for WTCC or DTM for the better pay and greater profile.

Expect an announcement from AMD about their plans for next year either at Donington or just after. Rumor has it, its going to be a change of car and/or a move to the NGTC engine for next year.

I'd prefer that tbh. Silverstone was dull this year.

Really? I thought there was some really good racing in all the series on the National layout. My memory is getting quite old though...

What's the "Extended National" layout? Is that up as far as the old International layout before taking a right at the Arena hairpin?

They should change layouts every year.

Bit of variety can't hurt.

Several teams are switching to the NGTC power plants for next year:

Honda (Neil Brown): http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=5316
Team AON (Mountune): http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=5299

Team AON also confirm their plan to run 3 Focus' next year (Chilton, TOC, ?)

AMD also look set to move to NGTC and will possible add another Golf.

Dynaimics, 888 and others are also looking to branch into Porsche Carrera GB next year.
