I wish they'd incorporate a layout that included oval T4 and oval T1, so they're flat out hauling down into T1.

There is actually a layout which uses turn 4, but they always used to use the crazy chicane at turn 1 instead of going flat through the corner.

They did in the past but T1 was that silly chicane

I think I heard that they are only allowed to use one of the banked oval turns with whatever configuration they use.

I think they did a similar thing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when IMSA GT used to run there.

Blame the MSA for that. They don't allow 2 banked corners on the same track, hence this layout replaced the one with the chicane. Drivers could never use the chicane properly, they always went OVER kerbs instead of AROUND them and then moaned when they took off into the air.

I believe that another F3 car very nearly went over on that chicane. Can't find the photo though.

I actually quite liked that chicane. It was difficult to get right, and you could get a great run down to the hairpin if you nailed it.

By the way, early forecasts suggest that there will be rain at some point on both days. But I think I reported the same thing at Snetterton and it was dry both days, so we'll see. :p

Ben Collins, had the front of the car in the air for like 200 metres.

That chicane ultimately cost Steve Hislop the 2001 British Superbike Championship
