That's not what the report says though. The report states the cars driven by Boardman and Newsham in 2011 will be run in the BTCC in 2012. There is no confirmation on the drivers yet.

I was hoping to correct that before someone noticed, no such luck

Looks like they are offering part paid for drives too.

Subsidised drives yes. Or "cheaper than their normal rate" in other words.

Read the damn thread, Joe Aramendia fanboy! :p

SPEED has started showing the BTCC races from this past season the last couple of weeks. I assume they will show all the rounds eventually during the offseason for NASCAR. I must say that I love this series! I would love to start seeing these races live in the States, but I guess there is probably little chance of this happening. :(

Derp. I fail..Again.

I guess that at least confirms the move. That will make me wish I could get BBC's coverage easily here, but I wonder who they will replace him with. Simon Hill?

Autosport, as ever, massively biased in their top 50 drivers of the year, placing Plato above Neal

"In many ways it was a frustrating season for Plato as he fought the power of the new turbo cars in the BTCC with his normally-aspirated Chevrolet Cruze. But he did have access to the best chassis and whenever he got a sniff Plato delivered. There was the odd moment, but the double champion did a great job to stay in title contention going into the final round, and scored more wins than anyone else. He is also now the BTCC's most successful driver, with 68 career victories."

'Odd moment' - Such as not managing his equipment at all and moaning every second of every hour?

Plato shouldn't even be in the top 50 anyway, nevermind ahead of Neal.

You can't take that list seriously. It is terrible every year and immensely biased towards F1 over everything else.

It's an impossible thing to do really, especially if you're trying to compare drivers from different disciplines, like F1 and rallying.

Best site for it is the Castrol Rankings, but it's still deeply flawed. http://www.castroledgerankings.com/

The only thing he should win is the "Fernando Alonso award for least gracious in Victory" (mainly based on Nurburgring 07 after pulling off a great pass on Massa then getting all uppity about the slight contact that was part of the move and not really anything dirty on either drivers part)

I've never seen a driver be so grumpy after a race victory as Plato in Oulton.
Yeah, you were a distant third all race, yeah you lucked into it, but to tell your team to shut up cheering and whine like you were the one taken out at the final corner was absolute dickery of the highest proportions, all that was left was for him to be presented with a trophy guitar and smash that up in his childish ungrateful rage.
Yes, it was arsey-ness of Kyle Busch proportions, that's how bad I think it was!

To put him ahead of the champion is a joke, Matt Neal quietly got on with things this year, performed when it mattered and only really had Oulton as his low point (and WHAT a low point it was :p ).

The only reason Plato got ahead of him is he gets more publicity due to who he is and the BTCC treating him like some kind of legend just for sticking around.
I get the loyalty shown but in Plato's case its more like the thick kid and school being kept back year upon year and being popular because he's taller than the other kids and can buy them beer, but at the end of the day he's still bad at what he's supposed to be doing.

Man, that might be my last Plato rant of 2011....
I'm gonna miss that! It's therapeutic!
