Not stricly BTCC but there was a couple of BTCC cars testing. Big shunt at Thruxton today, Clio Cup rolled over at exit of first corner - Allards. Driver (Covey) shaken but ok. I have a few aftermath pics. Car written off even before the season has started... gutted!!! :(

Which BTCC driver rolled a clio in testing at Thruxton last year when he was supposed to be using it to acclimatise to front wheel drive?

EDIT - found it, Tony Hughes

There's a picture in the Clio thread on the official BTCC forums; http://www.btcc.net/forum/showthread.ph ... 2012/page3.

Borked would be an understatement.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I think by now the Clio guys should mandate a TV camera filming every time they leave the garage as that seems to be the only thing that stops them from rolling over constantly!

Of all the Clio crashes I think at least 70% of the hugest ones happen in testing/Friday-Saturday Practice or any other time when there isn't a tv camera present!

As for Plato's Sun Sponsorship, we'll see if that paper is still around by the time the season actually starts...

If that's (and I assume it probably is) Vic Covey Jnr then that'll probably be his season over before it starts. He's been trying to make the move out of (mostly) Scottish Minis for nigh on 6 years but always struggled for the budget.

And I just saw a name mentioned on that btcc.net thread that fills me with foreboding.

Probably Nic Hamilton.

Didn't he also roll a Clio in testing last year?

Here are a couple of clues. Not going to mention him by name as I know people who've had legal issues having commented on his frankly atrocious way of living and racing.

On a lighter note, Onslow-Cole has joined WSR in a third Beemer.

I'm not only glad those three drivers have been confirmed, but I'm also happy that WSR is returning with the BMWs again.

It's great TOC has got himself a seat, but I can't help but wonder why the F$%k Foster does? Is he bringing his own cash to the table?

I don't see the issue with Foster. He's pretty competent and competitive, at least throwing up some good results from time to time. He nearly won at Croft remember! Didn't he say last year that he's on a 3 year plan within the BTCC?

A few years back I did object to John George for just bringing cash and nothing else. But he's grown on me over the years and I'd be disappointed if he's unable to continue on in the series.

Something like that.

People need to stop slagging drivers off just for not being 'fast enough', some of them are rather likeable.

I've nothing against the guy being here, if anything just to boost grid numbers which is fine by me. But I mainly hear his name mentioned during broadcasts while he's crashing, or going backwards...
