Seems like there might be an issue with the wheel nuts now, with a nut failure being the cause of the Tander incident yesterday and one of the Erebus cars losing a wheel during the ride day today.

Oh great, another problem. Why were these things not found in testing.

I didn't realise this until I read this later when I got home, because no-one knew at the time, but Brown losing a wheel happened about 10 minutes before I was due for my hot lap

I did notice that every time the tyres and wheels were fitted, they were marking the wheels and wheel nuts with paint markers (monitor if wheels are slipping). Clearly it's a direction the teams have been given to monitor it, so there is a problem there.

Bathurst will be fun when wheels are flying off into the chase.

Supercars have supplied new wheel nuts, to hopefully stop wheels flying off cars at full speed.

They've also tried correcting parity with the Fords, by shaving a massive 5kg off the body panels, reducing the COG by an incredibly massive 1mm.

The Newcastle 500 won't be happening next year largely thanks to local opposition.

Because Supercars is contracted to start their season in NSW it seems like they're going to try and have a second event at Bathurst the weekend after the 12 Hour.

Good vibe, but a meh track. Besides the finale 2017 I don't remember much happening there.

Not sure they can have an event at Bathurst in such short notice, so I'm guessing it will be another round at Eastern Creek. But more racing at Bathurst, the better.

Seems like they think they can make it work with a loophole in the city statues regarding how many days one of the motorsport events is (with the cap of 5 events per year). Idea is to make the 12 Hour weekend as a "10 day show" with the V8's piggy backing on the weekend after the 12 Hour.

SvG to make his Aussie race cars debut at Highlands, where he'll also be driving a Brabham BT62 in the 6 hours Enduro. Honestly I love how the guy gives everything a go, he's a real throw back to an old school racer

Tickford's third REC is going to BRT, along with James Courtney, who'll take the sponsorship with him.

Aaron Love comes from Super2 to replace Todd Hazelwood in the #3. Real shame, I've met Todd through friends a few times, but it looks like he'll be without a drive in 2024.

The AGP round will be changing too, as the Formula 2 cars will be using the secondary pitlane, Supercars will have much shorter, no pit stop races.

Today might get washed out, looking at the forecast. But it's fine for the rest of the weekend.

Good race in the end, shame it was on at the same time as AUS vs NZL in the cricket (and all the other sport).

Nice to see they've sorted the parity out. The big talking point is now track limits... loads of infringements in the first race.

So after the Newcastle round being cancelled as the season opener next year, the season will start with the Bathurst 500 one week after the Bathurst 12 hour
