Correction, Motorbase are looking to build a single NGTC 3 Series to run alongside 2 Ford Focus.

And as for 888, talk about sour grapes. They were fine when their Vauxhall Astra was almost invicible and had zero competition because the rules worked in their favour. But now a team has come in a built a good car for the regs, they're unhappy. Well first it was the Honda turbo engine, now it's the RWD config Beemers (and to a certain extent Austin's Audi). What's the next subject of their moaning?

If they can't compete without whinging then they can either 1) build a better car or 2) bugger off and concentrate on their British GT project or 3) Close down the BTCC team and just carry on with the V8's in Australia.

Ehh, it's just politics. You know what racing teams are like, especially ones whose bosses are as miserable as Ian Harrison!

Well, yeah, obviously. You wouldn't complain if you had an advantage, would you?

You mean the series where there is moaning about aerodynamics, engine configuration, engine position, body panel weight, fuel consumption, centre of gravity, etc... What goes on in BTCC is nothing in comparison.

Well that's entirely the point, 888 seem to fit that quite well.

That's probably my favourite British racing series now. Got me all nostalgic.

Guess what? RWD cars are to have a fixed first gear from Croft.

What the fans would've been happy with: An announcement about a Super Touring consolation race to make up for the giant blue balls at Oulton.

What the fans got: More rule changes favouring Plato.

Why Gow, why you suddenly go all Brian Barnheart on the series? :slaphead:

This has happened to the BMWs when they've been very competitve before, can't remember when but some time in the not too distant past.

The Hondas still seem like the strongest all-round package, this just removes some competition they might have had from BMW.

Alan Gow has responded to criticism about the performance of the RWD cars by stating he has no plans to add weight or handicap the BMWs or Audis, outside of the long first gear.

It's still a bs knee jerk reaction. Can't believe Gow even reacted. How many races in a row since the season start has a FWD car won?

Alan Gow has said today that a BTCC street race is 'unlikely'.

Birmingham aside because of the history, where would be a good candidate for a BTCC street race? Does the BTCC calendar need another event or circuit? Would a street circuit be considered a blue riband event? Would it dilute attendance from other venues or increase attendance across the season?

It may be an unpopular one, but for me London. In my imaginary world, you could run something like British Gt's as well like a blue riband event for British circuit motorsport. It could replace the end of season Brands event with the GP race replacing the Indy circuit.

Isn't London a bit too much of a task though? And if not, would it get the return on investment? The only alternative is the Battersea Park circuit if it is somehow a decent circuit for this type of series.

I think with the right investment, the right track and the right marketing, they yeh I could see it being a great success. Send the grid past Buckingham Palace along the mall. That would be a sight!

I suppose it's all speculation. It'll be interesting to see how the Battersea Part circuit works
