According to Ten-Tenths not a promising start for Ospi's team

Fujitsu Practice 1

News from the circuit... has Mr Fernandez & Mr Brown, sharers of the Race Image tent and cars, apparently had an on-circuit coming together of some size... on their first lap out...

Mr Brown's car was badly damaged, and the crew performed miracles to get him back out there for some more circuit experience....

Until... Mr Fernandez is alleged to have ventured into the scenery and damaged the car... in a big way

TAFE smash repairs has some work to do and its not even lunchtime on day 1!!

Allegedly :rotate:

Meantime, Mr Assailiit ended up 12th, but 3.5 seconds off the class of the field in Mr Owen....

Red Flag 10 minutes into Part 2. Jack Perkins likely candidate to have caused the red flag somewhere in Sector 2.

Whincup first into the 8s, a 2m8.9

Tander said after P2:
“We need to keep working on it but the car was good out of the box and when it’s good out of the box it gives you a bit of confidence to push on.”

Half a second quicker on Thursday this year compared to last, so Murphy's lap record could be under threat tomorrow.

I've got the Channel 10 Sports Report of Thursday's action ready to post, just having to sort out a couple of issues.

It was pointed out on another forum that Boris Said and Matt Neal are gaining extra mountain experience in the Mini Challenge this weekend. Neal was 2nd in qualifying, with Said 6th. The two of them would have been far more entertaining in the Utes.

There's apparently been a big crash between Pither and Weel, and Weel is still inside his car.
Hope all is OK.

Although the commentary team are reporting they are both out it is not the case. Weel's condition unknown as he is still trapped in his car. They are working to get him out.

Very similar to Porter's accident expect he missed the divers door and hit the boot.

Weel was freed from the car and taken to the medical centre by the ambulance. Pither has been already examined and left the medical centre.

Just saw some footage of the accident on Seven - nasty nasty nasty - Weel is VERY VERY lucky to be alive - very similar to Porter.

Weel car is completely rogered, it WON'T be back. Team Kiwi car is a chance of a fix, at first view.

According to FOX Sports, Weel has lower back pain and the 50 and 021 cars are done for the weekend.

foxsports.com.au wrote:
V8 Supercar driver Paul Weel provided the first scare of the Bathurst 1000 weekend after losing control of his car before being t-boned on the track.

He is however expected to make a lucky escape and be cleared of any serious injury following the heavy accident near the McPhillamey Park area of the Mount Panorama circuit.

Weel, 29, had to be extracted from his V8 Supercar after Team Kiwi Racing driver Chris Pither clipped the rear drivers’ side door and left him with lower back pain.

He was airlifted to a nearby hospital for precautionary tests.

Pither walked away unhurt. Weel was fully conscious throughout the extrication and talking to the medical team. The lower back pain meant the medical team decided to airlift the PWR driver.

Both cars have been withdrawn from the weekend due to the extensive damage.

Doesn't look like he was paying too much attention to the Yellows based on how fast the impact was... :o

on the news just then (in brissie remember) they showed the full crash, wheel had a simple spin down the hill and into the wall (like Steven Johnson had in 2006)
Image
then two cars went through then there was a short pause in traffic then as is seen in the youtube video pither came through in the team kiwi car and t-boned him.
Image
the news reporter dude said that team kiwi was trying to fix their car but it looked unlikely.

how many times has the bathurst 1000 had only 26 starters?

also according to what GTRMagic over at 10-10ths posted yesterday, Ospi is having a rough weekend

Quote:
News from the circuit... has Mr Fernandez & Mr Brown, sharers of the Race Image tent and cars, apparently had an on-circuit coming together of some size... on their first lap out...

Mr Brown's car was badly damaged, and the crew performed miracles to get him back out there for some more circuit experience....

Until... Mr Fernandez is alleged to have ventured into the scenery and damaged the car... in a big way

TAFE smash repairs has some work to do and its not even lunchtime on day 1!!

Allegedly

Meantime, Mr Assailiit ended up 12th, but 3.5 seconds off the class of the field in Mr Owen....

Upright, Watts Linkage, Diff housing, 2x Wheels, Hubs, panels, splitter...

#60 Wont be out for practice at 3.15pm today....

and this morning steve owen posted a 2:07.7 in quali
