Track doesn't seem friendly to passing

Yeah basically every attempt at overtaking not between teammates has ended in contact. I don't think that's much different to previous races here though.

I'd say the cars do seem to follow each other better which is good.

Waters and Feeney jump Kostecki for the lead in the pits

And SVG jumps them both.

Slade must have had an issue because he had to pit again. Apparently the right front couldn't come off which is a real tragedy for them because they were up the front.

I wonder if the drivers are also playing nice because they can't afford to bin the cars as spare parts are at a premium

Mostert passes Kostecki for 4th. I think that was the first pass through T1 all race.

Since 2006, T8 has won the first race every year except 2007 and 2019

Early signs for the new car are promising. Parity seems decent (discounting Triple 8 form), cars seem more of a handful under brakes leading to more messy passing attempts, and a fair few have taken some decent knocks and kept going.

Seems like they need to work on cooling in the cockpit, Will Brown looked like he'd been broiled and apparently David Reynolds was worse.

Not exactly a thriller but new cars on a track where it's easy to crash and hard to overtake will lead to that.
