Nick Percat's car will be running in a rainbow livery to support gay marriage this weekend. I actually think it looks pretty good:

Nice! Not as nice as Jeff Gordon's Rainbow Warrior, but could this be the first rainbow colored car in explicit support of gay marriage in (pro) racing?

It would go over better than in NASCAR, but you still have a point.

And predictably a lot of angry old men are complaining on Speedcafe and other sites about the Percat livery. Anyway.

HSV Racing has a new livery for this round.

And Taz Douglas is back again.

Like I said, fuck 'em.

The not-HRT car shoulda changed the red to orange to go with the logo, imo.

That story was not correct.

Quote:
Prodrive Racing Australia is yet to make a decision as to whether it will introduce a Ford Mustang in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship in 2018.

The Melbourne squad has issued a statement in response to a media report in the Daily Telegraph which claims the squad is committed to the Mustang and is already constructing a car for competition in the series next year.

Speculation surrounding the Mustang entering into the category has been rife ever since the sport issued its Gen2 regulations, which will see two-door bodied cars and non V8 engines eligible.
It has been widely reported that both Prodrive and fellow Ford team DJR Team Penske have been evaluating the Mustang as a possible replacement for the ageing Falcon FG X for some time.

However, neither operation has committed to a project which would require approval from the American manufacturer.

“Prodrive Racing (Australia) would like to clarify a report in today’s The Daily Telegraph which claims the team will be running a Ford Mustang Supercar in the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship,” a team statement read.

“No such decision has been made.

“As previously confirmed by the team, it is evaluating options for the eventual replacement of its current multiple championship-winning Ford FGX Falcon Supercar.

“This process is ongoing and involves consultation with multiple partners.

“Prodrive Racing appreciates the significant level of interest in this process from members, fans and the media, but confirmation of its future plans will be made at the appropriate time.”

Yah. Standard procedure when someone shoots the load too early.

"Eeehhh, that wasn't to have happened, we're gonna hold out for a bit longer, it's going to be spectacular then!!"

Considering the only conformation of them actually building or being able to race a Mustang comes from this one article with a misleading title in a sensationalist tabloid newspaper, I am not totally convinced yet. I would be surprised if there's a new Ford and it's not a Mustang though. At least I hope that's the case, considering the only other option would be a Mondeo or something similarly uninteresting in road going form.

In other news, if Nissan is continuing in the series it will be with something different considering this news:

Nissan will be continuing with the Altima in 2018, and have downplayed the possibility of the GTR being run in 2019. They did say that they might be bringing back the Altima and the Pulsar for '19.
