Oh my. So Austin lines up a replacement per TOCA's TBL rules, TOCA says no and then suspends the TBL for Austin not following their rules? What?!

If you actually read the article properly, you'll see that the situation conforms to the way the TBL rules have been since they were introduced. i.e. Miss a round, you lose your TBL at the end of the year, miss another you lose it immediately.

Yet they've never come close to filling the grid all year anyway. Get rid of it.

But why did TOCA stop Belcher from replacing Hunter Abbot?

That was really the point I was trying to make.

So Priaulx is now up to 6th and 41 points from the championship lead. He's had a very productive last 3 rounds. When will BMW decide if he'll race at Rockingham or not? If he continues his current performances I can't see why BMW would make him miss the round.

Actually, I'm being a tad unfair when I say TOCA stopped it. Belcher's now cleared some of the confusion be saying it was actually the Stewards at the meeting that stopped him and TOCA actually gave the OK. It was far too late for a driver to be brought in (despite having competed this year) is the official reason being given.

Ok thanks for clearing that up.

Seems a bit harsh not counting it as force majeure.

This is where it seems to be a bit of a grey area. It seems TOCA agreed it was force majeure but the stewards did not. It's dosen't quite explain the loss of a licence though for next year. That does seem very harsh

I think what we don't know is when the team offered Belcher as a swap for Hunter Abbot. The story on the previous page has Hunter Abbot saying they couldn't get anyone sorted by the Tuesday before the meeting, if they only tried to swap Belcher just before the first practice session on Saturday I can see why the stewards said no. Its not like the team wouldn't have known for a while when the due date was.

Which would be why they were trying to get a deal through before and for whatever reason he fell through which I guess was just before the deadline. Then they'd have to go with another driver and sort everything out again.

Belcher was at Knockhill. It's just a bit confusing really.

Does the TBL at Handy Motorsport have anything to do with this?

I'm sure in the recent past we've had very late lineup changes.

Priaulx will definitely skip Rockingham.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did. Imagine the meeting with the stewards: "Oh, OK, Simon. You're unable to drive your own car but are suddenly available to drive for another team? I don't think so, Sonny Jim!"

That's what I was thinking. Unless Rob was offering him to drive for free.
