Ha, retroactively penalising the Hondas boost levels is just not fair! :yuk:

Any news on Plato/race 2 yet?

Nope, they'll probably blame it all on Neal anyway.

 Why not just give Plato the title now?

Those were three enjoyable races.

I'm delighted for Dave Newsham, he's deserved a victory all season long although this win should have come at Brands Hatch.

A little disappointed Frank Wrathall didn't get a win, he made three awful starts and played catch up from there on in.

As for Plato and Neal well, I think I summed it up before the weekend began... They're both as bad as each other. After the incident I was very disappointed with Plato, it seemed as though Neal had made a mistake and Plato just headbutted him out of sheer juvenile revenge. But then I heard Neal's post race interview. I'm still more pissed at Plato, but Neal's tried and tested bump and run technique backfired on him this time. And these are the drivers the juniors are seeing as role models today?

Well with the boost advantage the MG has over the Honda, a bump and run is their best chance other then a divebomb under braking.

It's not equivalencey it's screwing over teams who just make better cars.

And this boost / parity saga is part of the reason I'm more pissed at Plato. I mean, he spent all of last year moaning about parity and now has a huge advantage (compared to the Hondas) yet we've yet to hear Neal or Shedden whinge. I was impressed by Matt Neal's demenour after race 2, he was completely placid. Matt made some great overtakes today, some impressive last minute dive bombs. But perhaps he knew whatever he did against Plato it would always end in the fashion it did?

And what the hell was going on with Steve Rider's hair?

Probably. We all knew if Neal made a move, Plato would hit him.

I've heard Neal say somethings about so-called parity that some people might say is moaning but unfortunately he's been spot on about it.

I don't see why, if Honda has spent many $millions in R&D over the past couple of seasons in BTCC, they can't dominate the series. It is supposed to take time to develop a car and make it faster, normally a couple of seasons. The last two seasons have been poor in a backroom political sense. In the past it was always about who had developed the best car and had capable drivers.

Plato and MG DO NOT deserve the title or have a right to the title just for turning up.

Post subject:  Re: BTCC @ Snetterton 11th-12th August

I fully agree. Car not fast enough against the Honda's? Make it better. Plato and 888 have the talent to do that, it's wrong for it to be basically handed to them.

It's not like Chevy in WTCC where all their rivals are indies with no manufacturer backing. It's SEAT all over again, moaning to be given parity then beating the field by bringing in a new engine when the chassis's been given all manner of rule changes to make them faster. In the past Gow didn't do that, hence SEAT's hissy fit but now he seems intent on keeping Plato happy.

Now I'm going to go to bed before I get too worked up to sleep.

Couldn't agree more with you, kals. Sure, we're getting some good on track racing, but the parity issue is leaving a sour taste. Maybe it would be dull if Honda dominated every weekend, but they have a strong drive line up and developed the best car. I'm not a Plato fan (if that hadn't been made clear ;) ), but I still feel like the majority of decisions benefit him. To the casual fan, he's the guy they recognise off TV, and he wins a lot. It's like he's the star of the show, and the rule makers want to make sure he's up near the front. I'm not going to make a list of appalling driving moves he's made (there would simply be too many), but remember when Nash and Jones both had wins taken away from them for minimal contact, with absolutely no intention of causing an accident? Could you be any less consistant?

Complete list of penalties from the weekend:
Quote:
Meanwhile a number of drivers were penalised for incidents at Snetterton today. Race 1: Robb Holland, official reprimand and two penalty points on his competition licence (for an incident with Adam Morgan); Dave Newsham, excluded (underweight car); Andrew Jordan, verbal warning (for an incident with Dave Newsham). Race 2: Jason Plato and Matt Neal, verbal warnings (for an on-track collision); Jeff Smith, official reprimand and two penalty points on his licence (for an incident with Andy Neate). Race 3: Gordon Shedden, excluded (for exceeding turbo boost limits); Frank Wrathall, verbal warning (for an incident with Matt Neal).

I've only seen the Neal/Plato incident once, so I can't really comment on that.

Overall, that wasn't one of the best events I've ever been to, action in the support series was pretty sparse. When the most exciting thing to happen in a Junior race is a couple of aerobatics planes flying over the circuit, doing a loop-the-loop, and flying off again, you know you've got problems. They need their street-legal tyres back ASAP, the small grid isn't helping either.

Porsches and Ginetta Supercup were about even, one fairly good race and one bad race each. Clios were the most entertaining, but not as much as they have been this year.

I don't know how much of the midfield action was shown on TV, but there were a few occasions in the BTCC where cars went into the esses in tight groups of 4 or 5 (without contact!), so that was pretty good.

The less said about Andy Neate the better. Running the same pace as Tony Hughes in an 888 car? Pathetic.

In fact, because I'm such a sad bastard, here are his career results so far:

Just a verbal warning, Plato will carry on then.

Oh if only Andy was a member here, I'm sure we'd all get a stern telling off.

I do wonder if BTCC uses Neate as the mark for MG rather then Plato.

Yes, possibly. And Neate does leaves a lot of marks...
