what a stupid thing to do, make the cars alot more expensive. Are they trying to kill WTCC?

Thanks Metzo, how much of an increase is this?

according to ray mollock around 20%

They're supposedly 2.5 times more expensive than the old ones.

the new cars will cost around 600-700k € , a current civic costs 420k €

NGTC cars were hugely more expensive to build than the old cars and some in the series continuously complained about the additional costs, yet BTCC is in fine health.

2014 Calendar officially announced

- The Suzuka round will be on the full circuit (they made a GOOD decision 8O , there's a first time for everything I suppose)
- It's good that they have a round in France again, but it's utterly stupid that it comes at the expense of the Italian round. Considering how supportive the Italians have been of international touring car racing throughout it's history, plus the fact that this series can trace it's lineage directly back to the old Italian Super Touring championship makes it a really poor choice. Monza also produced some of the best racing in the series.

Agreed great shame to lose Monza, the support races were usually good there too. Will be interesting to see if the additional power makes the cars a bit less dull on F1 circuits.

They shouldn't have made this decision. More aero means more difficult to follow the car in front during corners. They should look at what was BTCC in the 1990s. Simple, yet lot of nice tech bits, and great track action!

Because Honda's photo is a professional studio shoot, versus shots of cars not yet completely built or developed.

Glad to see Coronel get a drive, he was worried he might not be in WTCC next year.

I guess the fact Citroën entered this series, helped to get a French spot on the calendar.
Good thing that Suzuka will use the full circuit
sad to see the Italian round go.

But I still think this calendar totally sucks regarding timeline.

Jun 22: Spa
then 5-6 weeks nothing

then Aug 3rd Argentina

then again 5-6 weeks nothing

Sep14 next round...

Eurosport are showing a Season Review already, which is repeated quite a few times over Christmas, keep a lookout for it ;)

(Without MotoGP filling up their schedules they're finding it hard to fill time over Christmas it seems. Eurosport 2 will be repeating the entire Rallycross and Speedway GP seasons race by race, which is pretty sweet. And on the weekend before Christmas (also repeated a few times) they're showing the entire Goodwood revival too, a longer show than ITV's highlights :o )

Maybe 2014 is the year Eurosport will start to suck slightly less?

St. Mary's Trophy at Goodwood is the race of the year IMO. If they show that entire race (only 25 minutes), I would be so happy.

Was that the one with the flipping mini?

I managed to catch about half of it on its live stream (only realising that they'd consented to live streaming after about half of the sunday action had taken place!) but it had no commentary so I wasn't sure which race was which :p
But yeah, all the races I managed to see were great.
