That was a fairly exciting last few laps. Made up for the first part which was a little dull.

This stands out as one of the most utterly retarded decisions I've ever seen in motorsport. Brakes are the last thing you should be attempting to save money on.

How is this any different than cost saving measures through tyre restrictions? Everyone's in the same boat and it's entirely in teams' hands to manage it safely, or take stupid risks for a chance at success (which some will) but that's their choice. Any attempt to reduce cost should be applauded IMO.

heard Chris Stevenson had a horrible crash in the 4th Aussie Racing Cars race yesterday, Advantage Motorsports posted this on Facebook.
Quote:
Yesterday afternoons Race 4 ended badly for the Advantage crew, on the final lap Chris was turned around at high speed through the hayshed section of the track and rolled several times. Chris was knocked unconscious but removed himself from the car quoting Fernando Alonso in saying "i knew my family was watching so i had to get myself out of the car". Chris was transported by road to dandenong hospital where he underwent xrays on his chest and pelvis as well as CT scans on his head and neck. The doctors kept him over night for observation. This morning he will undergo more xrays and assessment on his eyes which have been causing trouble.Chris is in good spirits and just wants to get home and begin the rebuild process for Darwin. We'll update you on his condition and release when the time comes.

I'm not sure that race was broadcasted, though I don't have Foxtel so I wouldn't know for sure. It hasn't popped up RacingForMe & DarcyF1 yet (which are normally fairly reliable in putting up this stuff.) Sounds like a monster shunt.

There's a big announcement on the way by the looks of things. A new naming rights sponsor and a round in Dubai for 2017 (yawn):

It has also been announced that we will have a new series name and the first full-on rebranding of the category in 20 years. From next year, V8 Supercars will be known as the "Virgin Australia Supercars Championship"

For a brand that didn't see any benefit in sponsorship the various virgin franchise holders around the world sure have gone off script recently...

This.

Cyan Racing, not Polestar, builds the engines as well.
