V8 Supercars hopes to avoid the divisive clash between its pre-season test and the Bathurst 12 Hour sports car endurance race in future years.

Motor sport enthusiasts were angered by the decision to schedule the V8 SuperTest at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend against Sunday's international GT marathon at Mount Panorama.

With next year's Bathurst 12 Hour likely to again be held on the first weekend of February, V8 officials would prefer there was no repeat of the conflict, which attracted widespread criticism from dedicated followers.

"Of course, if possible, it'd be better to avoid it, no doubt about it," V8 Supercars chief executive James Warburton said.

But Warburton couldn't guarantee next year's pre-season test weekend would not clash with the Bathurst 12 Hour because its timing would be dictated by the 2016 V8 championship calendar, which is at least four months away from a preliminary timetable.

"We have to look at our calendar, we have to look at where all the dates line up and we'll take it from there," he said.

The shootout is single lap...

This is pretty much the worst usage of TV resources in history, a 2 hour practice session and a 1 lap shootout....with about 4 hours of talk either side of it.

Weird to see Eastern Creek looking green but that's about it.

Meanwhile, I just caught the end of the 10 highlights of the test day and it looks like there was basically nobody there to watch it. Epic fail V8 Supercars.

The V8 Supercar SuperTest at Sydney Motorsport Park on Sunday drew a national audience of only 30,000 viewers on pay-TV service Fox Sports.

The 30,000 viewers for the SuperTest on Fox (and said to have been 19,000 in the five major Australian capital cities) left it well outside the top 20 programs on pay-TV on Sunday.

In other news, still no info for V8 Superview for this season and looking like V8SC still doesn't have any TV deal for the USA also :slaphead:

Sounds like Motors is doing the same coverage that V8 Superview is doing. Hopefully Motors will get on a cable provider here in the US soon or a other network like beIN picks up live rights for V8SC (beIN would be nice considering they don't do commercials as much as other networks, all of the World Superbike races they show only have them during pre/post race shows & between the Superbike/Supersport races)
