Time trial event on the ring road in glamorous Coventry in May - says cars from the BTCC but can't tell if that means current BTCC or old cars. It seems to be non-championship for now but indications are that they want to make it bigger and get a full BTCC round here. Either way, I'll be here to watch

Moffat officially confirmed for 2015.

Also, It looks like Austin will be driving something different next year. So he is added to the confirmed list and looks like Hunter Abbot will be returning too.

This article will be constantly updated as entries are confirmed.

I'd say the Audis will be upgraded to the latest bodywork, rather than being replaced.

It's good that the Moffat Merc is confirmed, it's a much better car than the Chevy. Ciceley are planning to run two A-Classes themselves.

We seem to have the great problem at the moment of more cars existing than there are available TBLs.

A good place to have an event considering the motoring history of the location. The ring road doesn't have many roundabouts on it, so it could end up being full of chicanes.

that Infiniti is nice. hopefully UA can find an investor and stay on for the season. their schemes make me think of Nautica for some reason

I like it but it's in danger of becoming a bit complicated

Fastest laps for grids - yeah that's fine. We did that at brands in the 90s once and it worked, and it makes logical sense. But then you need to be tracking fastest laps on the screen for the viewer, otherwise Race 2 start will seem a bit random. And no tyre changing being allowed to set laps will be fun when it rains.

Splitting the soft tyre between all 3 races sounds very like F1s silly engine rules or WECs qualifying and stuff. It's fine for hardcore fans, but it gets a bit complicated for the casual viewer - the tyre of viewer BTCC relies on.

I like these changes, but they need to be careful. It's very easy to make things too complicated and annoying to follow.

I didn't realize the soft tire wasn't used at all at Thruxton. Is that because of it being too fast a track?

Dunlop have a special tyre to combat the punctures that the track usually throws up.

Three reasons, really:
1. It has by far the fastest average speed
2. It's essentially one continuous corner, so the tyres barely get a rest
3. It has the most abrasive surface

A bit of clarification regarding the race 2 grid:
Alan Gow wrote:
It's a good question - but the driver must still be classified as a finisher for their fastest lap result to count.
Also they must not have changed one or more tyres of the same type (i.e. slick to slick or wet to wet) during that race. The mixing of tyres, say wet on the front and slick on the rear, has been banned for a few years.

In theory, the race 2 grid should still look a lot like the race 1 finishing order.
