What's with the random Pinkney reference? Seems a bit harsh, he's been reasonably competitive this year. Would have thought John George would have been a better reference

Why did I get a worried feeling reading that Alan Gow speech saying "...and thank you for all your hard work, now I'm going back to Australia..." etc :o

He goes back there from time to time (he is James Courtney's manager after all), so nothing to worry about.

That's just Gow taking the piss. A couple of years ago Dave bet Alan £10,000 that he would win a race, but failed.

Pinkney bet he'd win a race in 2007? His best finish all season was 8th.

Of those TOCA support series champions, Freke and Glew are trying to get into BTCC for 2010, Smith is off to WSbR, Moore is staying in Ginetta Juniors and I'd imagine Bridgman will remain in Porsches.

Bridgeman's staying in Porsches, but in the Porsche supercup

So do I actually. I remember him in FBMW in 2004, when he won the championship with just him and a mechanic working on the car from the back of a trailer.

Yes, you could say he is a Freke of nature. :flag:

hurr

In other news, Sarah Moore is a nominee for the Young Sportsperson of the Year Award. A nice recognition even though I doubt she has a chance against the likes of Tom Daley.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Quote:
Stand-up comedian Patrick Monahan called up Champion Colin Turkington as well as his Team RAC engineer Albert Lau, series runner-up Jason Plato and fans’ favourite Paul O’Neill to follow his moves before letting each loose before guests.

Even a life-sized cardboard cut-out of the absent Fabrizio Giovanardi made it onto the dance floor and was only just out-performed by Lau’s break-dancing, O’Neill’s body-popping and Plato’s forward rolls as well as the even more peculiar ‘highland fling’ of Turkington.

Rumours of a new Saturday night TV show called ‘Strictly Come Prancing’ – on channel 800 or something – were described as “premature and misleading” by a source close to the quartet/quintet…

It says in this weeks Autosport mag that next year rear wheel drive cars (like the BMW's) will have to run with a standard longer first gear, to stop them having such an advantage at the start.

Is that an FIA rule or specifically a BTCC one? It sounds like a good idea to me.

A BTCC one. Alan Gow thinks it's a better alternative to rolling starts.

It is a bit unfair on the RWD runners. Each different car has advantages and disadvantages over the other type.

Everyone knows the deal and if they're so stressed about it they can go and run RWD cars themselves. As kals says the RWD vehicles have disadvantages in other areas. The new rule they should've been setting is a minimum time for formation laps next season to prevent drivers like Plato and Neal from doing five minute warm-up laps.

Having said that if it was between this change and rolling starts, I'd rather see this.

Will they be removing the weight penalty from RWD to compensate?

BTCC 2010 is going to suck with that rule!

Trust Speedworx to give a completely over the top response to a minor rule change.
