I agree with you, but there are some exceptions to the rule.

Good news about Triple 8 indeed. Absolutely no idea what car they'll go for though. Volvo please? :D

Definitely great news about 888.

So what do people reckon 888 will build for 2012? They've always been the Vauxhall team in BTCC but without the ties now will they venture over to another manufacturer?

I would say it would have to be a Vauxhall. Either an Astra or an Insignia.

Insignia, makes sense and maybe they could offer Thorney Motorsport some help to get their Insignia out at the end of this season.

Oh no doubt, the late season 1993 race springs to mind.

But sadly good races on the Indy circuit are few and far between.

Eurotech are definitely going to be back next year as Andy Jordan confirmed that the Vectra's are for sale and that they were looking into full NGTC options for next year. Pirtek will remain as title sponsor.

So Chevy will be backwards yet again and be the only top team without an NGTC-spec car? Let the moaning begin.

Silverline are mostly funding the RML BTCC operation and have done so since putting Plato into the Lacetti in 2009. So if the money isn't there for RML to fund building an NGTC car that is no-ones fault really. RML are working with the equipment directly handed down from the WTCC right? This probably means it's the cheapest way for them to run the BTCC team they have right now using that Silverline money. I think it would unfair to accuse RML of going backwards compared to other teams, it's just they are only able to exist and continue with the equipment and money they have available to them.

Then again I might be talking a whole load of bollocks.

RML are using last years WTCC cars. I think if memory serves me correctly they get money from 3 sources - Silverline, Chevy UK and MacDowell pays for his seat.

As long as Gow doesn't say anything that Plato could construe as a promise of parity next season, they'll have nothing to complain about. That won't stop Plato of course.

Would be great if Triple 8 stuck with Nash. They've come on really strongly this year, and he's only 45 points behind the championship leader which is highly commendable.

Jason Plato says RML will only be in the BTCC next year if the team can secure the investment to develop an NGTC-specification car for the championship

Alan Gow has said he believes that it is possible for 50% of the grid next year to be full NGTC cars.

What I'm optimistic about is the fact that a lot of teams have used 2011 as a transitional year. Therefore it'd be daft for them not to do the next year, so Austin, Wrathall etc should be back

Also, expect to see Nick Foster as he told ITV during the programme that he's on a 3 year program.

Chris James is looking for an NGTC entry

Has the Ginetta supercup been won by someone yet? If so, thats them in

And this is intruiging

Rumours elsewhere say they're looking at the MG

Post subject:  Re: 2012 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC)

Well TGR Motorsport been involved with in an MG championship so it is a logical link.

Thinking about the NGTC car numbers, let's look at it this way...

2 x Dynamics Honda
2 x RAR Audi
1 x Dynojet Toyota
1 x Speedworx Toyota
1 x Welch Proton
1 x Thorney Vauxhall
1 x TH Skoda

Then there's probable entries from...

1 x Eurotech NGTC
1 (or 2) x 888 NGTC

So we're already at 11 or 12 NGTC cars in 2012. And the unknowns will be what happens with RML, Motorbase and Arena. Motorbase have put their (new for 2011) Focus' up for sale, Arena are waiting to find out if they'll go WTCC for 2012 and RML are looking at either fitting NGTC engines for 2012 or building an NGTC car.
