Super2 has been a lot tamer this year but that race was batshit, had one multiple shunt with a car getting all the way up on two wheels and another crash with the leaders which could have been massive.

It's looking like it'll be #88 versus the Erebus cars for the win at this stage with Whincup having passed both the Coke cars for the lead.

Tander just lost a wheel and ended up in the sandtrap. He was the first Ford in 4th.

And now Moffat lost his wing in the pits...

That was a very scary moment for Tander, the wheel came off coming through the esses at the end of the backstraight. And apparently the wheel off of Tander's car landed on the rear wing of #6...

Now Holdsworth's splitter failed after going through the grass on lap 1. Basically 3 of the best Fords are already done.

And the star for Ford right now is Payne

Sounds about right

100 laps of parade and now the car running 20th goes off, SC

Car 88 wins pretty comfortably in the end. Without the SC periods, Ford were nowhere apart from Payne.

He had newer tyres then the cars behind him so the safety car didn't change much. Brown lost 3rd to SVG after running wide at turn 6.

As typical for recent Sandown 500s, not a very exciting race with a very long green flag run.

Says a lot when your 5 min highlights of a 161 lap, 3 hour+ race is just pit stops interspersed with an occasional incident

Not one overtake made the highlights, just what is going on with Supercars recently?

Even if the parity is shit, can't the Chevy teams race each other better than we're seeing? :?

The only time there were "genuine" overtakes, were when guys were on 40-50 lap old tyres just holding on, waiting for a pitstop. Outside of that there weren't many passes.

Sandown isn't conducive to good racing, but these cars are horrific for racing. For most of their stints they run at 60-70% speed just saving tyres.

Bathurst, unless the weather comes in, will be horribly boring. From lap 2 to 130 cars will be motoring along slowly just hoping they get their tyres to last 2-3 laps longer. Then we'll get a late SC, Skaifey will shout like a lunatic about how crazy it is and we'll get a close but procession finish.

Also, fuck you to Mark Skaife, who blamed the local council for the race becoming time certain. Supercars knows when the curfew is, it's up to them to set a start time so it doesn't run over, you've only got yourself to blame.

Yeah, the race started way too late. Too many video packages beforehand that were as dull as most of the race.

Also, from what I've been told, next year's Sandown 500, will be the last Sandown 500 and the last Supercars race there as it's going the way of Pukekohe. They're planning on making it a "heritage" round and making it the last hurrah next year.

EDIT: might even be scrapped for next year as they want to get a round in Singapore instead.

Just found out I'll be going for a hot lap in the Blanchard car (Cool Drive) the day after the Sandown 500 :flag:

This was one of the coolest things I've done. Did a hot lap in the Gen-3 car with Blanchard driving. They are such a tight fit, not very comfortable, even as a passenger you sit up like you're in an open wheeler cockpit, at 5'10 I felt too tall. Tim really thrashed it though, hit the curbs, pushed it hard. He was hitting 250-260 on most of the rides going down the back straight. Braked just 100m and down 1 gear for the fast corners at the back were awesome. I'll never forget it.
