Bit of a bombshell rumour reported today. Sounds like Will Brown is headed to his current championship rivals to replace SVG:

Dam, was low key hoping Richie would get the seat lol, but that's a mighty good signing by T8

This ones more a rumour file than anything concrete - whispers I'm hearing from people connected to Motorsport Australia is that Ford are seriously re-considering their involvement in the sport and the head honcho's are scrambling to keep them.

SvG, the sports most popular and marketable driver is 3/4 out the door, Brodie Kostecki could follow him to the USA from what I've heard. This sports in serious trouble if Ford are out.

Whether or not it's true, Supercars deserves it. Arseing about for a whole season pretending to care about parity while the one manufacturer supporting your series keeps losing is just a stupid way to run a business.

They've also developed overly expensive cars, that cannot overtake unless there's a significant tyre disparity, they run on boring, old, unimaginative race tracks, in boring, tired old race formats.

It deserves a reset

Saying that, when Ford released the Mustang to replace the Falcon, Holden threatened to pull out of the sport too.

They have definitely over-extended themselves, with brand a new car in the same old schedule.

It would have been smarter to work with the TV network to cut down on races this season until the cars were proven.

Manufacturers are always threatening to leave.

As a Kiwi, I do find it odd the series (and the TV network) have done little to elevate the Aussie drivers in the eyes of the fans.

Ford pulling all their funding (there were reports last week that they've already decided to pull their broadcast and safety car sponsorships at the end of the year) wouldn't be good, but I don't think it would change that much for the next couple years. The Ford teams would probably stay in the series and keep running the Mustangs, there's no other manufacturers that are interested and no real competition for Supercars at the moment with TCR being unable to get 15 cars on the grid and GT3 being Pro-am outside of the 12 Hour.

Can't blame them when Ford have not won a race this year that hasn't been a result of DQ's and a tyre advantage

From what I recall, Ford heavily funded the DJR and Tickford teams (I think they supplied 50% of their budgets at one stage), so take that away, yeah they can keep running Mustang's but they won't be competitive for long.

I'd love to see Supercars try active aero (DRS) at some stage. Probably wouldn't do much, but maybe something.

I'd be surprised if it's still 50% now. Plus Ford pulled out for a few years in the 2010s after they stopped making the Falcon and they were fine (though DJR had Penske money back then). Tickford might be downsizing to two cars next year anyway with one going to the Blanchards.

It's interesting the situation the series is in, yet after SvG's win in NASCAR, the series is highly rated around the rest of the world

Things moved fast. Triple 8 confirmed Will Brown will replace SVG on a three-year deal from 2024:

And Jack Le Brocq is replacing him at Erebus. Richie Stanaway has reportedly signed a deal to replace Dave Reynolds at Grove Racing and make his full-time comeback.

This weekend is the last sprint event of the year at Tailem Bend.

There are 5 Fords in the top 6 in a Practice Session, no doubt helped by green tyres. Supercars probably thinks that parity is good now.

Kostecki won from Mostert, Randle, Waters and the Red Bulls. Brown was in a multiple crash at turn 1 and dnf'd.

Kostecki won all three races while none of his main rivals finished higher then 5th across the weekend. Shane is now second in points. Randle had a surprisingly good weekend, he had another two podiums today and got his first ever pole.

I still don't know why they don't go to Highlands, it to me looks like a world class circuit, is it because it's away from any major town or infrastructure? I mean the V8's go to Winton, which is in the middle of nowhere, so that's no excuse. Maybe they've got something against Tony Quinn?
