2016 BTCC RDT

Because in the races of his BTCC career so far, he's finished in the bottom half of the field more often than not. In the three years that he completed full seasons in the support categories (2009, 10 & 15), he's achieved a grand total of ONE podium finish (in 67 races). And going by last year's performance alone, he was the lowest finishing driver who completed the full season and was beaten by two drivers who missed events, which is embarrassing considering how few entries there were. He is not a good driver.

Looking at the teams he's raced for in BTCC, I'd argue that the quality of the machinery hasn't helped his cause. AMD are not a decent outfit, whatever Shaun Hollamby thinks, and Dan Welch's squad have had issues after issues with the development of their Protons.

Jackson may not be top quality but he's more deserving of a drive in the series than others. I'd take him over the likes of Andy Neate any day.

He was demolished by Dave Newsham at Speedworks. Their cars weren't particularly good at the time.

They're not one of the best teams, no. But Tom Onlsow-Cole showed that the Golf was capable of being a top 10 car. Jackson scored worse results in a smaller field.

Going to be honest. I agree with Chris. He's ok but wont add anything exciting to the championship

This is feeling like a bit of de ja vous with Gilham. Starts small and then suddenly, out of nowhere, has the biggest multicar team in BTCC.

I do wonder how they have the resources to run ans many cars as they do. Not just in the BTCC but in BGT & VW Cup as well.

Jordan Collard will be racing Ginetta Juniors this year.

While I agree that Thompson is a bit of dick (and ignoring the fact that he's given up on racing to run his bar in Ibiza), I'd love to see him in the championship. Ability trumps personality every day of the week for me. In the same vein, was quite happy when Stefano Comini expressed interest in the BTCC, because despite him looking and acting even more of a tosser than Lewis Hamilton, and despite me not liking him at all, he's clearly a good driver. And Harry Vaulkhard? No, no, no.

It looks like Halfords might be returning to a major sponsorship role with Team Dynamics.
