You're quite right.
All type of motor racing other than rallying has been struggling since the 90s. With no tv coverage, famous drivers, or real fanbase it's impossible to make any series profitable.
It also doesn't help that many of the categories become defunct each year while some are born, meaning that no one knows if there's even racing that year. For example, the Wikipedia page of Finnish national championship hasn't been updated since 2011.
