If he continues like that, O'Neil could get that top 6 :o

John George is looking pretty quick too, and to think some people thought he shouldn't be in BTCC...

Hmmm.... maybe that is aimed at me after my comments earlier this year. Yep, I stand corrected. He did great in qualifying at Brands and was unlucky to be taken out early in race 1 which pretty much ruined the rest of the weekend.

Great performance by O'Neill. TSL should learn how to spell his name though.

Amazing performance for O'Neill. I can't believe how off the pace the Fords are.

Yeah, they've been a real disappointment so far.

I'm guessing the Clios had their usual Saturday pile-up, going by how many cars didnt make it through the first lap.

I happened to be standing at the complex at the time and had an ideal view. Seemed they got about 4 wide and it sent 5 cars off, only 1 of which got going again. The cameras didn't seem to be rolling, don't they film the saturday races?

No, I'm afraid they don't. They only film the Sunday action. But thanks for the explanation.

If you're lucky they'll have the on-board cameras running for Motorsport UK later on in the year...

That is if most of the on-board cameras weren't smashed up, rolled into a ball and obliterated in the first lap detritus and they can cover the rest of the race! :p

Paul O'Neill has said he'll be gutted if he doesn't break into the top 6 at Thruxton this weekend. I think he may be setting his sights a little high, but I'll be cheering him on if he does.

I totally agree with you 100%.

He did an amazing job qualifying in sixth, so let's see if he can finish the deal.

O'Neill: "sixth no surprise"

:)

Haha. Crazy clios. I was there last year (or 2007 :? , cant remember) - When at the final chicane, one clio thumped the kerbs, split the oil and every car following for a while spun into each other :p

Paul seems to be one of those characters who is always happy, regardless of whether he is at the front or back of field. He is just happy to be there. I have three really nice memories of Paul that will always stick with me. Firstly there is his reaction to his first win for Vauxhall at Oulton Park in 2002. Such an outpour of emotions it was hard not to get caught up in it. Then there was the reaction to being bumped out of a win by Matt Neal at the last corner of the last lap at Brands in 2003. The fact was there was hardly a reaction, he was still delighted to be in second place. Then there was his joy at securing the production pole, again at Brands, at the final round in 2001. In an interview after qualifying he said he knew he would get pole if he took Surtees flat for the first time. He did and he got pole.

I hope he gets his wish today of a top 6. I still feel it may be a tall ask given who is around him but I will still be cheering him all the way.

Steve Rider: "And what with four former champions, this is just about the strongest line-up British Touring Cars has ever seen."

Calm down a bit Steve.
