A very muddy Winton this weekend, Dunlop series has been a wreckfest so far. Nissan came close to scoring their first pole since returning.

Too bad Lowndes couldn't capitalize on Whincup's retirement. :(

Good first win for young Moffat; looks like he will continue upholding the family name while one of the Nissan teams has got the COTF figured out.

Just read something about Nissan and Mercs getting a different fuel blend. What's that all about?

It's to hopefully put the Mercs and Nissans on a level playing field in terms of fuel consumption with the next 3 rounds being enduros. It's down to their 4-valve engine configuration which churns out more fuel than the Holdens and Fords which run 2 valves.

Oh, and nothing wrong with a Nissan victory, either.

Gotta love the Holden and Ford fanboys that whinge about Nissan winning. Its good for the sport that a new team can win in their first season.

He is as well, got a few connections.

My grandma re-married and married Cam's dad 15 or so years ago.

And James is a cousin through Marriage, pretty close, when we were about 12 we used to go away together Go-Karting. The annoying thing is I was better than him but his family had the funds to get him started in the Utes, Lotus Cup etc

This season has suddenly come alive! Less than 100 points between the top 4 heading to the enduros. Bring on Sandown.

Great weekend of racing, love Winton. Lots of the sort of biff and barge this series is sorely missing.

Definitely, the incident with Kelly/Winterbottom was a bit crazy for sure.

Also, it's really strange to hear on-air profanities(Scotty Pye's crew member yelling "fuck yeah") without the apology after it like in American broadcasts.

I think (it looked like) it was Paul Morris telling Pye to drive the burnt car back to the garage and not to leave it there.

It was only the two Norton cars and the #9 Engel Mercedes that used the E70 blend on Saturday. On Sunday all of them went back to the regular E85 blend.... where were the Norton cars running on Sunday?

Given its a parity formula, then the fuel consumption should be evened up, but a professional championship should not be running experiments mid-season in points paying races... I can totally see the issue that the Holden and Ford teams had, it was a ridiculous situation that should have been handled in private testing, not at a race meeting. (how long were Nissan working on their engines before the season started? The program was announced in early 2012...)

Nontheless pleasing to see a Nissan win though, i remember being at Oran Park the last time Nissan won a championship round in June 1992.

Yep, not much better than top-10 worthy on Sunday with Moffat. Definitely doesn't sound right to conduct this type of experiment in a points-paying round. So if it they went back to the regular blend for Sunday, does that mean the E70 won't be used again or will we see it again in another experiment later on, I wonder.
