Double file restart in V8s resulted in chaos in turn 6.

I can tell you're not too smart, simply from the fact that that situation would have happened regardless of a single or double file restart...they're far enough down the track that anything stemming from the initial restart is negligible.

A typical 'let's go mental' race 3 there.

Race 3 was awesome. Big crash, close finish. What more could you want?

That's just the STCC chassis with a new paintjob right? No way those side skirts, wheel wells and front splitter will be in V8SC.

Volvo has been confirmed though: http://motoring.ninemsn.com.au/cars/fea ... -supercars

Don't be surprised if Robert Dahlgren replaces Premat.

Hell yeay, Volvo! I think all current Volvo factory drivers in STCC got a chance at a V8SC ride next year, because they are all really good (except Prince Carl Philip, lol, he's the Danica Patrick of STCC). I would go for Thed Björk, he's the most aggressive in tight situations and has driven the most kind of cars (F3000, LMP1's, DTM, Camaro Cup, STCC, TTA, etc). Robert Dahlgren was obviously their choice in WTCC but he have never raced a rear wheel drive touring car until TTA came around, he's only raced FWD cars for the last decade. He is still getting used to the new STCC formula. Fredrik Ekblom got the most impressive resume (CART, BMW factory driver, 4 STCC/TTA titles etc), but he's old, likely near the end of his career. Linus Olsson is young and very promising, but a bit reckless and need to mature a lot.

There you have the 4 Swedes that seem to have a shot of a V8SC drive. Swedish media reporting on this are also assuming that they have shot at this. Johan Kristoffersson, how good he may be, doesn't have a shot at all, for political reasons. He and his management hates the TTA bosses, one of which is the Volvo Polestar teamboss.

The car in the picture Scotty posted is indeed an STCC car.

I'd put Rickard Rydell in the car, but that's just me being sentimental.

Wow, no comments from the weekend? The racing wasn't bad at all.

Race 1 ended up being a 1-2 for FPR with Davison winning. In race 2, HRT finally returned to the top step of the podium, with Tander winning from Courtney. It's been over a year and a half between drinks for them.

No idea how GT managed to not damage anything after he came off the wall.

Yea, that just blew me away. Holden could use that in their advertisements.

Overall, both races were interesting. A nice change from the batshit insanity of Hidden Valley.

Dam, not good news for Dick Johnson

Quote:
A sporting great who should be living in the lap of luxury after a 36-year career, the five-time V8 Touring Car champion is living off $350 a week and hasn't drawn a wage from his famous race team Dick Johnson Racing since 2008.

The 68-year-old also spoke for the first time about his ailing health. "I lost nearly everything I owned," Johnson told The Sunday Telegraph last week.

"My house, my factory, my health and my famous cars. Even my dignity. I was conned out of $9.1 million."

The Queensland government has extended the contracts of all 3 races for another 3 years.

Its also everyone's favorite this weekend, Queensland Raceway. Should be a nice weekend of single file snoozefests.

Well, today's second race was interesting, in some ways. Chaz Mostert won in only his 9th race start, and it wasn't a fluke either. He drove pretty well, although he was helped by several top cars suffering from tyre explosions, including Courtney, McLaughlin & Whincup.

The only one that really helped him was McLaughlin's failure. Don't think anyone else had a shot.

Great to see these rookies winning and a smile on DJ's face.

Chaz had a big lead from the get go, I could tell (at the track) that scott was catching him but I think chaz would have won anyway.
