Laurent Hoffmann had a lucky escape, though he has broken both his femurs. Ouch.

I am not steeped in motorcycle racing history, but this quote from motorsportretro.com made me wonder:

Quote:
Many pundits would group King Kenny with Mike Hailwood and Valentino Rossi in the all-time top three of road racers.

How would people rank Joey Dunlop among them? Dunlop was an Isle of Man wizard, instead of a GP wizard, but how competitive and important was the TT in the era just following it's exclusion from the world championship?

Qualifying and race schedule: http://www.iomtt.com/TT-Info/Qualifying ... edule.aspx

For the first time I've actually got the presence of mind to be in the position to watch this live, but I won't be able to see the Superbike TT :/

The Dunlop name lives on. At this rate, he's gonna be better than his uncle. What an amazing rider.

Terrible news in such a short time from Simon Andrews' passing. Gary Johnson suffered a bad crash too, but he's set to recover.

I believe he broke his collar bone if I caught the call right. I'm not sure if we're getting one hour highlights on a same day tape delay basis or what, but Velocity here in the states is airing the iTV highlights shows each night at 10PM.

Johnson crashed shortly after the hairpin, so can't have been a very high speed accident. Sucks for him though, he was one of the few that could threaten Michael Dunlop.
