Unfortunately that's motor racing, you will never completely eradicate the chances of fatal accidents unless you remove the sport altogether.

but mainly when its happens. its does at the end of a year....

that it what it feels to me..

The fact that Sport1 keeps on going with their scheduled programme without telling their viewers that Simoncelli has died is just unbelievable.
And they recently extended their MotoGP contract until 2014...

RIP Marco Simoncelli. Not among my favourite riders but never hope this to happen to anyone in racing.

It was turn 11?

exit of it yes. Sepang offers you the option to run different lines which seemed to trigger the accident.

Damn, this is just terrible. I cant believe whats happened over the past week. I turned on Eurosport to watch the race replay to find they were showing Snooker instead. Now I know why.

We've lost a hugely talented rider who had so much ahead of him.

RIP Marco Simoncelli :(

Terrible accident, he was the man who brought some excitement to the (mostly boring) races this year.

Oh god not again. This is terrible :( He had so much to look forward to. Awful times, these things always seem to happen together. I don't know what to say - there's just something about the motorsport community, I may not have watched Dan's or Marco's every race like I do some people but I was a big fan of both and it feels like I have lost two people close to me.

RIP Marco.

Damnit what a shocking crash. The motorsport world has been hit so hard in the last two weeks. RIP Marco and Dan.

Can't say I'm a big follower of bike racing, but still, awful news. Terrible week for motorsport.

RIP Marco.

His 2008 250cc season was truly brilliant, that was when I became a fan of his.

I was just watching the recording from this morning. Absolutely horrific, I knew this was unlikely to have a good outcome, logged on the net and found out the news.

RIP Marco.

When you know he was hit by Rossi on the neck, you can clearly imagine how it happened :(

My thiughts exactly. Although, if there were tyre marks on his neck, i wouldnt be surprised to know that one the straps broke.

Well, it didn't fall off as such, it was torn from his head.

Which I guess goes to show the violence in this accident.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

"Just" Fall off? I mean he was hit by two massive bikes that carried some noticeable speed. I doubt that any helmet would have saved him there.

Helmets don't just fall off, but how can one stay on when the straps are forcibly torn apart?
