It's doomsday in Richmond. 13 drivers are locked into the new and "improved" Chase with a victory, including last week's winner Kasey Kahne. Matt Kenseth is locked in on points, and Ryan Newman is all but assured his place barring a disaster, which leaves only the final 16th spot up for grabs. Greg Biffle has a 23-point lead over Clint Bowyer, and only Bowyer and Kyle Larson (24 points back) have a shot at getting in on points. A win by any of those drivers, or anyone else within the top-30 in points, can change all that. Or if you're MWR, you can always cheat..... Sprint Cup Entry List Nationwide Entry List |

the chase is pretty much locked, unless someone outside the top 16 can win, which ain't gonna happen. nascar's attempt to manufacture drama at Richmond has failed again |

Who says it can't happen? Rain, fuel mileage, a good car. Just like the Patriots went undefeated in 2007/08. But you're right, why even bother watching. Stupid us. |

I can see Front Row going off on a crazy strategy. Nothing to lose for them, Annett or Whitt. They need a win to make the chase, so they're gonna try something. |

More realistic but same idea, I can see Menard, Truex, or Ambrose doing some whacky race strategy . |

at least one team will go through the race without changing tyres at least one other will try to gain track position without making a single pit stop |

It would be funny if some backmarker team qualified, but realistically they'd tool around in 30th place during the Chase races and find themselves eliminated very quickly. Danica is only just eligible - 28th in points. 40 points behind Stewart despite starting 3 more races. 83 points behind Casey Mears. How is that more worthy than Ryan Newman? |

There's too much tire wear at Richmond to try anything crazy. The only odd strategy would have to be fuel mileage with a long green run to the finish. |

Ionno.. maybe Newman doesn't look as good in a bikini? |

Possibly true about the backmarkers being out early. But. The hilarity of the chase is going to be when Dale Jr and Gordon wreck or have blown motors and are eliminated in the first round after having their best seasons in a long time, and guys like Kenseth and Newman advance. The flip side is EVERY chase race could be a balls to the wall crazy strategy race. Win any race and you're locked into the next round. |

Chase races 3, 6, 9 and 10 I think will be balls to the wall. People tend to forget that after every elimination round, the points are reset again. |

It's raining at the track now and rain is expected Saturday night. I hope it doesn't get delayed to Sunday. Not gonna lie, my focus will be 110% on the NFL that day. |

I want to believe that the final race will be crazy, but these high downforce cars race so badly on 1.5 mile tracks. I don't see them suddenly being able to race each other closely. I'd like Kenseth to win the title without winning a single race. Damn, that's wet! |

It would be hilarious if the guy who won the title in boring fashion the year before the chase started was somehow able to kill the chase by once again winning it in boring fashion. |

You guys are a bunch of jerks to Kenseth. There's no place for bullying on the internet. |
