From my little knowledge of the legal system, Tony will be probably charged with involuntary manslaughter with Ward passing.

If anyone who is knowledgeable with this, please correct and expand on the possibilities of what could occur.

Tyler Graves, a sprint-car racer and friend of Ward's, told Sporting News in a phone interview that he was sitting in the Turn 1 grandstands and saw everything that happened.

"Tony pinched him into the frontstretch wall, a racing thing," Graves said. "The right rear tire went down, he spun on the exit of (Turn) 2. They threw the caution and everything was toned down. Kevin got out of his car. … He was throwing his arms up all over the place at Tony for most of the corner.

"I know Tony could see him. I know how you can see out of these cars. When Tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. When you hit a throttle on a sprint car, the car sets sideways. It set sideways, the right rear tire hit Kevin, Kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under it for a second or two and then it threw him about 50 yards."

50 yards?? I don't doubt it was probably an intense situation but half an American football field seems a bit of embellishment.

It looks like Kevin Ward is actually 20, not 17 as previously reported.

I assume this is in Stephen A and Skip Bayless voices.

WHAM, the ABC affiliate out of Rochester, NY is reporting that.

The last time Tony Stewart raced at this track, he caused a 15 car pileup on a restart.

Yeah, but they have his own website to thank for that confusion. His bio opens saying he's "just 17", but just a few lines down references him racing at that age of four in 1998 (which would put him at 20).

Ok my phone hated quoting Tommys post but I assume what he said was in intense bad ESPN voices.

Kevin Swindell tweeted this and I think he hit the nail on the head.

Quote:
If this really was an accident an had no malicious intent this is something that will wear on Tony forever. Can't imagine that feeling...
