Not too surprised this was so dull - not like anyone had to race their way in with Kes being so slow in the first race and Bliss having early problems in the second so who was going to do anything too risky.

Watching that race was worse than not watching it.

Glad I didn't watch it then lol.

Even Kirk Shelmerdine didn't park in the 500 the year he made it in so I'd assume anyone who tried would be assassinated immediately by a sniper on top of the grandstands. The only team who made it who might is McDowell's bunch. They ALWAYS park in standard races.

I love how they were making a big deal about the transfer spot even after they knew Brian Kez and Bliss weren't going to make it.

Sucks for Bliss. He was definitely faster than the 93 before his window net fell down...

It seems to me that these cars race exactly like the pre-COT cars did. Put them in a big pack at the finish, and they'll be 3-wide and on the edge of control. Let them spread out into 4-6 car packs, and no one will have enough momentum to make any real moves. They were definitely taking it easy today to avoid wrecking a bunch of cars since almost everyone was already in the field, so I expect the last 50 laps of the 500 to get pretty crazy when they start pushing on each other and going for the win. The new cars seem to punch a smaller hole in the air, so they aren't getting those huge runs like before and it takes more calculated moves to make a pass. The non-tandem COT racing was basically like trucks on steroids since they punched such a big hole in the air and it was so easy to pass, so yeah, we've been spoiled by it.

Michael McDowell has a sponsor on his car. They were going to run the full race last year but didn't make the race. They have the same sponsor this year as they did last year. I don't see any potential start and parks. If anybody start and parks in the Daytona 500, they should be parked the rest of the year.

I think I'll DVR the 500 and let it get a good head start before I start watching (fast forwarding).

My question to you guys, would you risk it during the duel or 500? 500 for sure. Again I bring up 2007. First 150 it was the Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart show with single file. Heck even spreading out in the corners like 2004. Then the last 50 laps were chaos.

David Starr just had a huge tire blowout in truck practice. The RF exploded and a piece of the shock or something flew out ahead of the truck a good 10-15 feet.

Not a good few days for Jennifer Jo Cobb.

And to top it off, her engine won't go over 6000 RPM's and she doesn't have cash for another. Will probably miss Daytona.

Too early to be thinking about that.

Is it? I'd say they're 5-time champs for many reasons, and that'd be one of them.

Its pretty certain that the 48 will book test sessions at Chase tracks
