After a not so exciting race at Texas, NASCAR now moves to Kansas Speedway for a 400 mile race around the 1.5 mile track. This is the last race on the current configuration before the track is changed to yet another progressively banked track and a road course is added. The grass on the inside of the corners and back stretch may be seen for the last time.

The Truck series is also racing here after their interesting race in Rockingham.

This one goes caution free.

Watching the trucks at Rockingham just solidified in my mind how much they need to get away from these fucking 1.5 mile cookie cutters and go back to some unique tracks.

I'd be ok with a caution free race, if nothing else, so it would at least be over quicker.

A caution free race would be the only thing saving this from not being interesting. Well, somewhat.

Nevermind my post about caution free, Sam Hornish is entered in a third Penske Dodge(#12)

I was going to post that I think this is a dull track, the racing will be awful and I will not watch it. Then I thought...yeah, I'll probably watch it anyway.

I've come into this thread each of the last 3 evenings to post something like that too, but I was so uninterested by this race that I just closed the internet and did nothing.

I've come into this thread to ask how long until DEGA....

God damn genitalia. Just realised that I won't be able to see DEGA live this time around.

I just realized that somehow I've managed to watch every plate race live since the 2001 Pepsi 400. Technically not counting the 2007 fall race because I was there.

I've watched every one since 1998. The last one I missed was the 1997 Diehard 500 where Terry beat Bobby. I was running a go-kart race that day.

Actually not bothered about Dega without tandoms. Daytona was dull, imo. Dale Jr and his fans ruined the racing.

Daytona was really dull. So much that I had already forgotten about it.

This has been the dullest start of a NASCAR season that I have ever witnessed.

Which pisses me off after how epic the end of last year seemed.

No, Simon, that's not how it works. No offense, but sometimes your blatant fanboyism clouds your judgment. It really does.

I've watched every plate race live since the 2002 Daytona 500. Since I started watching NASCAR in 1995, I've missed a grand total of two restrictor plate races (both of which were at Talladega): the 1995 Winston 500 (when Dale Earnhardt had the last lap from hell after first losing the lead to Mark Martin after taking the white flag and then getting spun by Morgan Shepherd in turn two) and the 2001 EA Sports 500 (when Bobby Labonte flipped on the last lap and Dale Jr. had to hold off charges by Tony Stewart and Jeff Burton to win the race).
