The NASCAR tours drives down to Atlanta Motor Speedway (now, criminally, with one less date) for a nighttime showdown, the second-to-last race before the Chase, with many questions looming. Will Brad Keselowski continue his hot streak into Hot-lanta? Who will sneak into the Chase? Who will be left out of the Chase? Will a new face finally beat out KHI and KBM's grip on victory circle in the Trucks? Will ESPN continue to sing the praises of the Almighty Kyle Busch? Does anyone actually care about the Sprint Summer Showdown? And who do we have to kill around here to get SPEED to televise an ARCA dirt race?

Sprint Cup: Advocare 500 - Sunday @ 7:30pm ET on ESPN
Nationwide: Great Clips 300 - Saturday @ 7:30pm ET on ESPN2
Trucks: Good Sam 200 - Friday @ 8pm ET on SPEED

ARCA @ Duquoin: Southern Illinois 100 - Monday @ 1pm ET

Can JPM stop suck so much this year? That is all I wonder.

It's EGR who suck. JPM should be on the chase every season with a decent team.

Me likes Atlanta. Perfect timing to watch it after work too.

This race should be at Darlington

The original Labor Day classic. :flag:

Atlanta is my favorite 1.5 mile track, so I'm thankful that we at least have one date on the schedule for both tracks. Better than nothing.

I prefer the old Atlanta.

Not that I disagree, but I find it funny that in almost every NASCAR thread, the first page is full of "track sucks", "old track was better", "needs a second date", "why does it have two dates?", "pack racing was better", "race will suck with the COT", "won't bother watching", etc. Kind of puts into perspective how NASCAR can fuck everything up so bad.

This is a sad fact, by the way.

Yeah, but we would find something to bitch about anyway. In the 90's it was "t-birds have the advantage!"... "The new Monte Carlo is too fast!!"... "Jeff and Ray are cheating!!!... "Gordons wife is banging the jackman!!"....

We will always bitch :)

I can imagine someone on TBK in 1993 would bitch about how NASCAR should go back to the "good ol days" in the 70's when they had boxy cars with chrome bumpers, how the drivers were more badass, no restrictor plates, no rainbows or pointless jagged lines for paintschemes, and lament about why Tide and Kodak should be considered "hollywood shit" sponsors. Real racin' indeed.

I wish we were all around back then. And TBK, too. That would have been interesting.

Imagine TBK in 93 and 98 when Rusty and Jeff won pretty much 1/3 of the races

Considering the "Boys have at it" deal nowadays, I'd think TBK would've flipped their shit over this finish:

People will always bitch about everything. No matter how good something is, they will bitch about it until it's gone, then bitch about it being gone and how the old days were so much better.

I'm not saying that the current state of NASCAR is good, but you guys bitch about everything incessantly, and it's really, really old.

If you want a similar view of things back then, read old issues of magazines like Stock Car Racing Magazine. Doesn't matter what year, there's at least one letter that says everything's ruined forever. Of course we look back on those days with rose tinted glasses.

Dan Belcher and I will be at DuQuoin for the ARCA race. Looking forward to it.
