It's the cars, and it's the tires. When there is no issue with either, the racing is better. Calling for a change in the format of the racing and including fake caution flags is lazy, short-sighted, and completely lacking in logic.

Its a tire and car issue. That simple. Raise the front air dam up stinkin 6-8 inches off the ground, shave the spoilers down to 3 inches and go back to the old bias ply tires....Nascar wont ever do that with the tires tho because they make more money off the radial tire than the bias play. $2000 a set for radial tires. $800 a set for bias play. NASCAR is NA$CAR and $$$ and the greed of more of it is whats hurting the sport. Nothing other than that....

I'd be happy with tyres that didn't blow out every time they even seen debris. Goodyears tyres are fucking terrible.

What if they made the races shorter along with raising the noses and shaving the spoilers. That would cause the drivers to be more aggressive due to having less time to get up to the front and they would have to be better at controlling the cars without being as aero-efficient.

The TV coverage needs to improve. I complained about it before in this thread, but it's worse than ever now. You miss almost half the race from commercials.

When I worked in tires I had some conversations with the man who used to run BF Goodrich Motorsports, he said they would show up to Speedweeks every now and then in a corporate fashion. Teasing the idea that they could be interested in joining. Apparently NASCAR has no interest in another tire manufacturer or one replacing Goodyear at all.

It's incredible how sometimes they have the nerve to come back from a lengthy commercial break only to mutter some Sprint nonsense and then go right back to commercial again, under green that too, LOL. You know it's bad when even our broadcaster refuse to go to commercial in those cases and switch to a silent onboard with trackside noises instead..

Fix that and the rest will come, otherwise you won't have the money to fix the rest of it.

How are the TV ratings this year anyway?

If people keeps watching, companies keep paying for TV time and spaces on the cars for their logos, and there wouldn't really be much pressure for NASCAR to make really, really deep changes.

I guess all hope lies on the 2013 cars.

And as has been stated, it isn't the solution. They need to fix up the cars.

But if they really want more cautions, then why don't they go to more short tracks. Because look at Martinsville or Richmond, for example. There's crashes everywhere!

Or even run on dirt!

A couple of dirt races and a few more road course races. It's a great dream, but I doubt it will ever happen.

I'd love them to try, even a non-championship race at a dirt track. Just put dirt of Martinsville and go racing.

Everyone knows NASCAR doesn't see dirt racing as "professional".

Nah, do it at Bristol. If the freaking World of Outlaws can race there on dirt, surely NASCAR could. Would also make the racing better than it has been the last few years.

Speaking of which, the Outlaws need to go back there. I don't think I've ever seen anything more amazing in my life than 20-odd sprintcars running around Bristol at insane speeds.

More road courses might happen, but dirt never will. Although, if they ever ran Springfield or the Indiana State Fairgrounds, I might actually spend money to attend a NASCAR race again.

I'd drive to see a NASCAR race on dirt. It'd be an interesting (and exciting) experiment.

That's almost a third of the broadcast purely at commercials. I doubt that includes all of the intro/outro commercials. Does it include the time when they come back from commercial, tell you it's a Sprint sponsored event and go straight back to commercial? I doubt that. What about when they'd rather talk about Aflak and pretend it's some sort of relevant fact? Or the amount of stupid logos that get slapped on the screen for some TV program you don't give a fuck about?

When you add up everything, not just the time they are showing full screen commercials, I'd put money on it being closer to 50%. I have no idea how they get away with it, or why people put up with it. You pay money to watch a 5 hour commercial and every so often they show NASCAR clips between them.
