I think that's supposed to be a Sportsman type body to fit on a metric frame. ARP makes one for the Mid-Am series and Five Star makes one for the NASCAR Corona Series.

reminds of those Trans-am Cars SCCA tried using before the series went kaput.

Well it's now official, Adirondack International Speedway in New Bremen, NY is closed for at least next season, would guess that includes their Camping World East Series race. Track owner, Paul Lyndaker, has had issues with the state concerning the water system which delayed the start of the season and he also feels like their property taxes are too high so they won't be any racing next year.

Unfortunately this leaves a lot of drivers with no place to race next year, the late model guys have some options with a couple tracks downstate. The Super Stock class was trying to work a deal with Oswego Speedway to run some shows there, but my understanding is Oswego isn't really interested. Or they may have to switch to dirt unless they can convince the people running the Evans Mills Speedway (now Thunder Alley Speedpark) to remove the dirt and allow them to race there.

There is no way Oswego would go back and try that again. They had a super stock class at one time, probably like 8 years ago now, maybe less. Absolute joke. Those boys from Adirondack better find some dirt tires if they want to race next year.

I found a interesting article while searching internet archives for information on Langley Speedway

Quote:
* Two-time NASCAR Grand National champion Tommy Ellis, in his first race since his relief driving stint in Junior Johnson's Winston Cup car, pulled off a remarkable feat Saturday night at Langley Raceway in Hampton. Ellis, who had to park his Dodge after 80 (of 250) laps, took over for flu-stricken Buddy Dozier on Lap 117, charged from last place, took the lead when front-running Charlie Ford pitted on 211, and finished first. Dozier still goes down as the winner.

The Myrtle Beach 400 Late Model race is about to start, there's live radio coverage of the event here:

http://racecastlive.com/2009/11/myrtle- ... /#more-972

There's already been some excitement with Alex Yontz and 2009 Bailey's 300 winner Jake Crum beating on each other and trading a lot of paint in their heat race.
Also, short track racing legend Phil Warren has come out of semi retirement to compete in this event.
Some other notable drivers in the race are Chad McCumbee, Scott Riggs, 2009 UARA champion Matt McCall, Ryan Truex, and Lucas Ransone just to name a few.

*edit* apparently there's a light rain shower over track right now and they're under the red flag

*edit 2* and now the race has been called for today, they will resume next saturday. However, you can listen to some of the exciting action from the heat races and Limited Late Model 100 lapper that took place earlier today using the link above.

The main problem I have with those cars is that they hurt the local tracks like Thunderhill here in Texas that cant switch to those cars. In 2009 any top class at any ASA track was eligible for the National Championship..Now you have to run those cars with those bodies to be eligible for it.

Race car bodies arent as expensive as you think. You buy a kit for around $1000 and ur set.

No you don't. Only if your cars are running the ASA Challenge tour will they need to change bodies. Then again, that is quite a pain in the ass to begin with...

A complete body package with no extras from five star racecar bodies is about $2800. To actually mount the body with proper accessories and mounts it costs about $3300 or so. That can be a lot for some teams to put out when there are other costs in the off season like refreshing the engine and other maintenance costs.

Not that I recall, but regardless, what brings this epiphany to light? Swapping the WoO Latemodel dates at Brewerton and Rolling Wheels perhaps?

The Polar Bear 150 from Rockingham Speedway, for the Frank Kimmel Street Stocks, is being broadcast live right now:

http://kickinasphalt.youcastr.com/broad ... ary-1-2010

There are 65 cars on the grid, it should be an exciting race.

*Edit* Green Flag is getting ready to wave (@ 12:35 EST).
