Mountain View Speedway possibly to be shut down due to noise complaints. This would the second track in recent years here in NC to be shut down due to noise. The first being Tri-County Motor Speedway (because a person, moved to the area near by the track, and started to make complaints. That is what I hate, a race track has been there for how many damn years, then new houses are built and people complain because "they didn't know about it")

This track is near Boone?

yes, at the High Country Fairgrounds on Roby Green Rd. It was closed for years until this past year, first learned about it from the Lost Speedway's page on Facebook.

Cool. If the track stays open long enough, may have to go over there one night as I only live an hour away from Boone.

Meanwhile, here is a cool gif of a crash that happened at Wythe Raceway a couple of weeks ago, another dirt track in the area...

damn, heard they had some pretty bad wrecks in the UCARS there in the past too. I wonder if there will be any NCWTS teams testing there for Eldora this year (if they haven't already, considering the race is only 8 days away now)

Scheduled to have a super late model race at Wythe on Monday night with the Dillon boys scheduled to appear and race. Debating on going, as that will be a work night and be really late getting back more than likely.

Friessen's been on fire this season. Maybe not in the SDS, but in the weekly racing. He's killing them at Fonda.

Carteret County Speedway to finally open in September. They were trying to open this track several years ago but they never got around to paving it fully until this year.

C.J. Greaves might be racing a SLM later this year.

He won the ESS race at Malta last night. I finally made it to the track. Friessen got lucky tho. His two closest competitors ran into trouble. Hebing spun all by himself while leading and some other guy who's name I can't remember had a mechanical failure while running 2nd.

YouTube of it is in the Crash Videos section of the board. I was expecting something like that for awhile but not off of turn 4. There is also an opening in the outside wall in the middle of the back straight as well. The track would be an excellent place to hold a WoO race or other major dirt series race, if they would just upgrade the facility just a tiny bit.

Claude Hutchings had a pretty bad wreck at Utica Rome last weekend, got full throttled for the win by Mike Richmond. Claude is sore and cut up bad from hitting the trees but is ok. Seat was even bent :8:

Wow, Claude has a had a rough year from what I have heard, I was at U-R the previous week and it sounded like they had had a lot of motor issues this season. I know they have a backup car so he should be able to continue racing but that's still a heavy loss and not what that Open Sportsman division needs, they're only getting around 10-12 cars this year. I'll be curious to see the video of this at the end of the year, though, that's for sure.

The Open Sportsman division is a lost cause. The DIRT Crate Sportsman's are bringing 25-30 car fields depending on track. I understand not wanting to run out guys who have equipment, but those Open Sportsman's can run with the 358 Mods if they give them a 4 barrel and a weight break.

Yep, Crate is definitely where it's at, with DIRT changing the tire and wheel rules to match everyone else this year, save for tracks running American Racers, it's made it a lot easier to travel and the car counts have come back up into the 40s in the series races. Opens will probably be all but dead in the next two years, they've still managed to survive down in the Tier and PA, but even then the fields are being filled out by Crates.

The Sourthern Tier and PA boys have always marched to the beat of a slightly different drum. When Deyo runs his races, unless they changed something since the last one I was at, the mods can run with or without sail panels, can run alchy or gas and there's a couple other I can't remember. Maybe different c.u.i.? The NJ guys are the same way at some of the tracks. CN and NY are the only real DIRT (Sanction) strongholds... And it's really just CNY at that.
