Mansfield being torn down. Seemed like a decent facility when the Trucks were there.

knew about that for a little while now, such a shame

always thought it was good when it was asphalt; it's luck in it's final dirt years was just flat terrible on the big races - always seemed like it would rain out

I loved it in NR03... Quite unique. Modifieds champion Donny Lia scored his lone career truck series win at Mansfield.

23XI dropped some big news on Twitter today: Tyler Reddick is joining them in 2024.

And RCR is salty about that Reddick announcement...

To be fair, I don't think I've ever heard an announcement two years in advance. It's usually mid-season before the next. I can see this affecting RCR's #8 promotions, merchandise sales, and what not.

Kasey Kahne (Evernham/RPM -> Hendrick feat. the Red Bull gap year) and Clint Bowyer (MWR -> SHR feat. the HScott gap year) did it

Kurt Busch & Jamie McMurray was originally planned on doing that for 2007, but they got the contracts broken up & started a year early

But most of those were with everybody involved knowing and agreeing to it, this one not so much.

Alonso's first move to McLaren was announced in December 2005.

Ty Dillon is leaving Petty GMS after this season, and The King is PISSED:

(Petty's tweets were part of a viral campaign for Hardee's chicken sandwiches. Though as you can see, the timing couldn't have been more awkward)

Also Montoya to Mclaren was announced about halfway through the 2003 season IIRC

I don't know how that race won't be an absolute shit show. The layout has 7 90 degree corners.

So they’ve lost two races in the Chicago are due to lack of attendance (among other reasons) so they’re solution to this is a third, street race in the Chicago area…..

It is understood that the street course race will replace Road America on the schedule and be run on 2 July. IMSA SportsCar Championship will join NASCAR that weekend in Chicago as a companion event.

Oh for FUCKS SAKE NASCAR #fuckyounascarthread

Why can't we have nice things that stay around.

Also, did they not even pick up the phone to Indycar and ask if they wanted to be a part of this?
Surely they tried, weird that they went with IMSA and didn't even try for indycar, or is there more of a story there I'm not hearing bar that NASCAR and INDYCAR still don't get along after all this time

the answer is incredibly simple: NASCAR owns IMSA, and has since the late 2000's pre-merger when it was Grand-Am

the other factor: why would they want their competition (Roger Penske & IndyCar) involved?

Same reason why you don't see tracks owned by NASCAR (XYZ oval or XYZ road course - Watkins Glen & Road Atlanta) on their schedule - unless IndyCar rents out the track outright and promotes it themselves (Iowa this weekend)

I'm just imagining those being clusterfucks like the first turn of the Charlotte Roval.

That's probably the whole point.
