Nope. There's nothing wrong with the length of Cup races.

Just peoples attention spans.

Precisely. A 500-lapper at Bristol or Martinsville isn't actually that long of a race.

And they're still running each of the 3 series' races on separate days at the April event, so the spectators are going to get even less value for money than they already do.

It's basically endurance. Sure it can get pretty boring but that's mostly down to the cars. Shorter races will leave it just as dull but just over quicker.

The Martinsville races do tend to drag on longer though. I don’t care about this one either way, because I don’t really like Martinsville, but to compare its race times to Bristol’s is an exaggeration.

I don't agree that value for money correlates to the number of laps but to each his own, I guess.

I think pimmy's point is that NASCAR is already poor value for money, so taking away from what is already a small amount of racing is a bit of a slap in the face.

I can't think of another series that gives you less action for a one day ticket. Maybe Indycar oval races.

That's exactly what I meant.

one thing Nascar could do is pick races held in less traditional venues and do heat races, perhaps two 200 mile races, one on saturday or one on sunday or two on sunday

could be also good to scrap for good stage racing that was created solely to bunch up cars and pretend they have close racing

the only problem is that if you crash on the first race you're outright fucked for the following one and obviously bad weather

Post subject:  Re: Random NASCAR Discussion

the only way cutting laps at Martinsville would be good is if they added a support race, which they won't do for "TV reasons" or other logistical reasons (which is bullshit most of the time)

this is the same series that only has 1 race a day at most road courses so what else do you expect

they are doing this - part of the point of the LA Coliseum race (to get into markets they otherwise can't race in), expand their demographic & make it more accessible for city folk who won't drive out hours to watch a race at a permanent venue

I think you will see this copy-pasted in international stadiums down the road (which will work 100 times better because they actually have space for a track, where as the USA either doesn't have enough seating for the venue (Bowman Gray) or has added so much seating that the floor plan is too tiny - i.e. Solider Field). Alot of the other venues that could work in the USA aren't possible because Feld Entertainment has most of the stadiums locked down for Monster Jam and Supercross (hence why Stadium Super Trucks is solely a road & street circuit series - as the only venues they could get access into was Arizona, LA Coliseum, St. Louis & some minor league baseball fields)

Also part of the reason why NASCAR wants a street circuit in Chicago, which I don't think will happen due to a variety of reasons (mainly local city politics).

I could see Long Beach, but other than comedy value, do you really want to see stock cars tackle the tightest hairpin in North America?

Figured this was the best place for it. If you know anyone who might be interested in the role of managing a sports website's NASCAR social media content (remotely/work from home), with a focus on trending content during events, please drop me a message for more details.

Tarso Marques will race in 8 cup events this year, for Team Stange.

4 road courses: Indy, Charlotte, Glen and Road America
4 ovals: Daytona, Vegas, Homestead and Phoenix

Yes, the same that did some F1 races in 96, 97 and was raped by a certain Fernando Alonso in 2001. All with Minardi.
