Why on earth are they doing Daytona road - Dover - Daytona? Seems like completely unnecessary travelling

WGI simply wasn't going to happen as the cases spike here in NC. No different than V8's going to Sydney instead of Winton next week due to state government restriction

Also of note: Daytona is allowed to have fans, while WGI was very unlikely (tracks in NY are restricted for another month basically, some opened up last weekend with fans being allowed in the grandstands but those tracks are getting food + liquor licenses pulled apparently now)

Not learning from what happened with Ace Speedway about a month ago, I see...

Plus all the teams would have been subject to New York state's mandatory 14-day quarantine, and North Carolina is a state they have identified as a high-risk area because of a big uptick in COVID-19 cases there.

Most of the NY tracks have been racing without fans or doing drive-in only, but a couple opened up after a lawsuit was filed (which for that short term period allowed it up to the counties to decide)

Meanwhile in NC (where ACE is), nearly EVERY track here (but for Charlotte - no fans, Hickory - drive in spectating, Bowman Gray - likely season canceled outright & Caraway - closed down it appears) has been defying governor orders w/ fans in the grandstands for months. A few of them (dragstrips, go-kart tracks) have been doing limits but there's loopholes with that as there's no grandstand ticket & just a pit pass.

NASCAR looked at one of the V8 Supercar night races and saw the underglow lights, they will be using them now at Bristol as a extra way to denote manufacturer

It’s just occurred to me that if NASCAR sticks with the low DF/increased power package for the Daytona road course, they could be hitting some big speeds before they brake for T1.

Those details are a little above my comprehension but I’m glad they’re going to be out there fighting with the cars around the place. I guess it also helps that there is plenty of runoff and padding to hit if things go bad in T1.

Wherever you read this it must have been a typo - the race is 140 laps (thankfully)

Yeah I was just about to come back and correct it. I saw the stage breakdown on a page at Jayski, I believe. Must have been a typo on his end.

Remember the #28 Circuit City car that ran some races in the XFinity Series last year with Shane Lee running most of the races? Well, it turns out the owner got arrested.
